Abstract:
A station RX1 communicating on a particular channel with a station TX1 transmits a periodic channel busy signal while it is receiving from TX1 so that a potentially interfering station TX2 is made aware that the channel is in use even if TX2 is out of range of TX1.
Abstract:
A method of communication for supporting half-duplex communications via a full-duplex link, the method comprising the steps of: sending a communication in half duplex format from a first mobile radio communications station MS (38) to a first base transceiver station BTS (40); converting the format of the communication in half duplex format received at the first BTS into a full duplex format and sending the communication converted into the full duplex format from said first BTS (40) to a second BTS (44); converting the format of the communication received at the second BTS back into a half duplex format at the second BTS and sending the communication in the half duplex format to a second MS (42); thereby delivering the communication from said first MS (38) to said second MS (42).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A trunking radio system comprises a central station and at least one remote station for communication with the central station over a plurality of frequency-divided radio channels. The central station comprises: a transmitter 10 for transmitting a plurality of signals to different remote units on different channels; a trunking controller 12 for allocating channels to different remote units, said trunking controller having traffic monitoring means for monitoring the excess number of channels over the number of remote units having channels allocated; signalling means for signalling to a remote unit to allocate a channel to the remote unit, said signalling means being responsive to the traffic monitoring means to signal to a remote unit to allocate (203, 205, 206) at least two channels to that remote unit when there is at least one excess channel and diversity means 21 responsive to the traffic monitoring means, for receiving signals from the remote unit over said at least two channels. The remote unit composes: a receiver for receiving signalling from the central station and diversity transmitting means (34, 35, 39) responsive to said signalling for transmitting a signal over said at least two channels.
Abstract:
A method (300) of delivering broadcast information to a mobile station (12) in a radio communication system (100) having a plurality of communication cells that are able to serve said mobile station (12) with a communication link. The method includes the steps of receiving a broadcast information trigger (310) caused by the mobile station; and transmitting (324), in response to receiving said trigger (310), broadcast information to the mobile station (112).
