    Abstract: A detector for detecting predetermined digital words within a train of signals wherein the digits in the words each have a predetermined time period. The detector continuously samples the train of signals coupled thereto. Samplings are taken a number of times during the interval of a digit time period, and a digital signal corresponding to the sampled signal for each sample taken is stored in a multi-stage storage register. Comparison circuitry compares the digital signals in the storage register with a first predetermined word in a memory circuit. If there is a correlation, the comparison circuit counts for a time period long enough to sample the train of signals and store a new series of signals corresponding to a second digital word. The comparison circuit compares these second digital signals with a second word in the memory circuit. A correlation between theset two words produces a detection signal.

    Abstract: A resovator part (42) of the piezoelectric device (40) provides the frequency determining component for the local oscillator (10) which controls the operating frequencies of the receiver (20) and transmitter (30). With the signal routing switch (60) set so that the wiper (62) contacts the terminal (60B), signal centred on 150 Mttz are passed by bondpass filter (44) to the mixer stage (22) of the receiver, from the aerial (50). The signal received is down-converted to 35 kHz, demodulated, amplified (24) and pressed to a speaker (26) which outputs the audio signal modulated on the RF input signal. In the transmit mode of operation, the push-to-talk line (32) is actuated which causes the output of the transmitter (30) to be connected to the filter through the switch stations (60A,60C). The microphone signal (34) is modulated (36) and up-converted by mixer (38) to 150 MHz. The oscillator resonator (42) and crystal filter (42) both operate at or near to 150 MHz.

It is stated thet by radiating the signal in a plurality of successive different radiation patterns, e.g. a, b, c, d, Fig. 3, and determining the vehicle's position for each radiation pattern, that the location errors Fig. 6 for each respective pattern vary in a random manner with movement of the vehicle, and an averaging of the phase comparisons or positions produces a much more stable position determination.

    Abstract: An asynchronous radio repeater system for providing radio coverage within a large building or the like employs a plurality of pulse repeaters distributed over the communications area. Each repeater receives oscillation pulses from a portable pulse transmitter or from another repeater and transmits pulses of oscillations having substantially the same frequency as the received oscillations. A blanking system is incorporated in each repeater to disable the repeater for a predetermined time duration following tee transmission of a pulse to prevent self-sustaining oscillation of the system.
