Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal at a low cost with low power consumption having pluralities of display devices to give diversified display. SOLUTION: A portable communication terminal 102 includes a housing 105, a 1st display area 130 and a 2nd display area 132. The 1st display area 130 is directed to the outside from a side 122 of the housing 105 and the 2nd display area 132 is directed outward from a front part 120 of the housing 105. The housing 105 includes a housing section 114 movable to an open position and a closed position and the 2nd display area 132 is covered by the housing section 114 when the housing section 114 is at the 1st position or the 2nd position.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control entrance to/exit from a slotted paging mode in a mobile station like a radio telephone. SOLUTION: A radio telephone 104 in a radio telephone system 100 enters into a low power sleep mode and uses a sleep clock generator having a low resolution to measure the duration of the sleep mode. The radio telephone 104 uses an oscillator 116 having a high resolution to synchronize the timing of the radio telephone 104 with the system timing. The radio telephone 104 gets out of the low power sleep mode synchronously with the system timing.

Abstract: A unique method for supervising a cellular telephone call between a base station and a radio telephone of a TDMA cellular communications system includes the steps of detecting the presence of the assigned time slot (306); detecting the presence of the assigned DVCC when the assigned time slot is detected (308); incrementing a bad slot counter (316) if the assigned time slot is not detected or if the assigned DVCC is not detected; and terminating the communication (322) if the bad slot counter reaches a predetermined maximum value. The good slot counter is reset (318) if the assigned DVCC is not detected in the next burst, and both counters are reset (314) if the assigned DVCC is detected in consecutive bursts.
