Abstract:
A mobile station (402) selects (1802) a preferred cell site for transmitting a frame of data to be sent subsequently to the mobile station. A base station (602) of the preferred cell site schedules (1804) a transmission of the fram e of data, wherein parameters for the transmission are determined by the base station from recently-measured channel and interference information. Thereafter, the base station sends (1806) the frame of data from the preferr ed cell site; and an active set of base stations associated with the mobile station at ones of a plurality of cell sites synchronize (1808) their data queues to reflect the transmission of the frame of data.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method for operating a hybrid automatic repeat request communication system wherein it is determined whether a receiver can process a data packet, and a self-decode request associated with the data packet is sent based on the determination.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a group application for group formation and management, in particular in a wireless environment. The present invention provides a group application in which a membership list of a group is kept updated automatically by communications between the group applications of the group. The group application handles all the complexity involved in setting up a group and maintaining a membership list for the group, without user intervention. Advantageously, the group application is implemented as a software agent. The invention also relates to an electronic device having a group application or software agent of the invention loaded therein.

Abstract:
A transceiver compatible with both wide channel constant envelope 4 level FSK FM modulation and narrow channel pi /4 differential QPSK linear modulation allows compatible interaction between modified constant envelope and non-constant envelope transmitters. All Nyquist filtering occurs in the transmitters, and none in the receiver.
