Abstract: A sulfuric acid-free fuel composition for use in liquid feed polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. The fuel composition is a solution of water, methanol and formic acid. The methanol is present in concentrations between 0.5 and 15 molar and the formic acid is present in concentrations between 0.01% and 20%. No corrosive mineral acids are present in the fuel.

The communication device may be a two-way radio (10), and some of the components are a radio transmitter (12), a radio receiver (14), an antenna (16), an amplifier (18), a battery (20) and a housing (22).

Abstract: Fluxing compositions containing compounds that generate acids upon photoinitiation from a light source such as Hg/Xe ultraviolet (UV) light sources are described. The acids clean oxides from the printed circuit boards (PCBs) under assembly and then volatilize with little or no need for a cleaning step, or cleaning only with water. The compounds that release an oxide removing agent, sometimes called a "photoacid" include metal and organic onium salts and furyl compounds bearing a carbonyl group. Such fluxing compositions can be used mixed with typical solder formulations. such as lead/tin solders, or applied topically thereto; both techniques permit the assembly of PCBs more easily and with high quality bonds.

Abstract: A fuel cell assembly has thermoplastic bipolar plates sandwiched between a number of electrode assemblies (30, 30') to form a stack. A bipolar plate (35) alternates with an electrode assembly (30) so that one side (31)of the plate is adjacent and adhesively bonded to the corresponding surface of one electrode assembly anode (34), and the other side (39) is adjacent and adhesively bonded to the corresponding surface of a cathode (32) in the neighboring electrode assembly (30'). The adhesive bonding also serves to seal the fuel and oxidant channels (37).
