    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize an adverse influence in appearance even while an option accessory is not attached to a portable electronic device.
    SOLUTION: A portable electronic device 100 comprises a first housing portion 108 having a first battery 135 and a second housing portion 106 having a second battery 102 operatively coupled to the external surface 120 of the second housing portion 106. An accessory such as the second battery 102 uses a latching mechanism 160 for removably attaching the accessory to the portable electronic device. The latch is disposed movably in the second end of the accessory at an opposite side to a first end. The latch includes a hooked end 404 extending toward the first end of the accessory. The hooked end engages the portable electronic device to its end. The latch exerts a predetermined force 701 that causes the opposing end of the portable electronic device to abut on the support.

    Abstract: A wireless communication device (20) provides a matching state between a radio circuit (28) and an antenna assembly (26) in both its retracted and extended positions, and does so with an elegant design that increases reliability and manufacturability by reducing the number and complexity of components and moving mechanical parts. A matching circuit (30), which is reconfigured according to a switch (32) that is responsive to the antenna's position, provides the matching states. Furthermore, the switch (32) can be integrally formed as part of a feed terminal (36), the feed terminal (36) and a ground terminal (38) can hold the antenna in position, and the ground terminal (38) can hold a guiding tube (52).
