Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily assemble a housing while efficiently utilizing a space. SOLUTION: A portable wireless telephone is an opening/closing type and desirably composed of a first housing 102 and a second housing 108 connected with the first housing part by a hinge. The second housing part has a recess for housing a battery pack 15 and a battery cover 114 for covering the battery pack. Further, a detachable battery covers at least one part of the battery cover while being coupled with the wireless telephone. Besides, the first housing part of the opening/closing type portable wireless telephone can be provided with a display 126 and a speaker 120. Further, the second housing part can be provided with a keypad 136 and an antenna 202.

Abstract: A battery connection apparatus (116) has a housing (1706) with two ends (1708 and 1709) and a surface (1712) extending between the ends (1708, 1709). The housing (1706) is thin such that the surface (1712) is substantially larger in area than the ends (1708, 1709). A battery (1702) is disposed in the housing (1706). The apparatus (116) has mating projections (1722, 1800) extending from each end (1708 and 1709). The apparatus (116) also has contacts (1730-1733) located at the surface (1712) rather than at an end (1708 and 1709). The contacts (1730-1733) are electrically connected to the battery (1702). This apparatus (116) stands alone as a low profile battery pack, or may further include structure resident on an electronic device (100) to connect the battery (1702) to electronic circuitry (1700) of the electronic device (100) to realize a reduction in form factor thickness.

Abstract: A foldable electronic device comprising a first and second housing element and a coupling assembly, including a linkage assembly and a biasing member, that directs the housing elements between a closed and a deployed orientation. The linkage assembly includes a plurality of adjacently disposed links collectively defining a first end and a second end. The first end is coupled to the first housing element and the second end is coupled to the second housing element. Each link is rotatably coupled to each adjacently disposed link and includes an outward limiting member limiting the relative rotation of adjacent links in an outward direction of rotation. The biasing member is coupled to the housing elements and outwardly biases the housing elements relative to each other to direct rotation of the housing elements toward the deployed orientation. The operable length of the biasing member changes as the housing elements are rotated toward the deployed orientation.
