    Abstract: A communication receiver (10) including a display (22) having a predetermined number of displayable characters, a decoder (14) for receiving and processing data messages, a plurality of control switches (20) for operating the decoder (14), and a memory (16) for storing a plurality of received data messages. The decoder (14) selects a data message to display from the memory (16), arranges the data message into a plurality of screens, computes an individual variable screen timeout value for each screen, and displays each screen on the display (22) in a predetermined order for the screen timeout value computed. The screen timeout value is computed on the basis of the message content of the screen, the presence of control characters in the data message, or the generation of input signals from the control switches (20). The screens can be displayed in a forward direction or a reverse direction. Each direction can either be at a fast or a slow rate.

    Abstract: A miniature piezoelectric element is conductively mounted on a metal diaphragm having one or two projecting tabs which provide two solderless terminals. An insulating area is screened onto the diaphragm around the piezoelectric element and out onto one tab. A conductive layer is formed on the upper surface of the active element and out onto the insulating area on the tab without contacting the diaphragm. The diaphragm can then be supported within any suitable housing with the tab or tabs projecting for contact by a miniature connector.

    Abstract: A taut armature reciprocating impulse transducer (100) includes an electromagnetic driver (24, 26) which effects an alternating electromagnetic field in response to an input signal. An armature (12) includes an upper planar suspension member (14) formed by a first pair of non-linear spring members arranged along a first radial axis (50), and a lower planar suspension member (16) formed by a second pair of non-linear spring members arranged along a second radial axis (52) which is substantially perpendicular to the first radial axis (50). The upper and lower planar suspensions members are coupled to the electromagnetic driver (24, 26) and suspend a magnetic motional mass (18) therebetween. The alternating electromagnetic field alternately moves the magnetic motional mass (18), the movement being transformed through the upper and lower planar suspension members (14, 16) and the electromagnetic driver (24, 26) into motional energy.
