Abstract:
Character generator for developing a video signal for application to a television receiver to reproduce characters on the tube screen by a dot matrix. The signal representing each character actuates a plurality of gates for horizontal lines which are operated in turn, and each selectively triggers a set of gates associated with the dot positions along the lines which are operated in turn to produce video components which are combined to form the video signal.
Abstract:
A data storage and display system utilizing a memory register for receiving names of personnel in response to coded cards having indicia corresponding to alphanumeric characters and storing the information indicative of each alphanumeric character and displaying the same on a display screen in alphabetical order to indicate to other personnel the names of those registered. A permanent memory in combination with a memory register and shift register operate cyclically to insert new names in the memory in alphabetical order automatically upon insertion of a particular coded card into a card reader.
Abstract:
THE ELECTRONIC SENSING SYSTEM SELECTIVELY ENERGIZES AN ELECTRICAL APPARATUS A PREDETERMINED TIME AFTER THE ELECTRICAL POWER IS APPLIED TO THE SYSTEM AND IN SYNCHRONISM WITH A SIGNAL INDICATING THE APPARATUS IS READY TO BE ENERGIZED. THE ELECTRICAL APPARATUS IS DE-ENERGIZED IN RESPONSE TO BOTH A SUDDEN DECREASE IN AMPLITUDE OF A MONITORED VOLTAGE WHICH ACTIVATES A TRIGGER CIRCUIT, AND IN SYNCHRONISM WITH A SUBSEQUENT SIGNAL INDICATING THE APPARATUS IS READY TO BE DE-ENERGIZED. A SENSING CIRCUIT COMPARES THE VOLTAGE BEING MONITORED WITH A REFERENCE DERIVED FROM THIS VOLTAGE TO ACTIVATE THE TRIGGER CIRCUIT.
Abstract:
Data muting apparatus is described that mutes variable-length data signals communicated between a central station and mobile and portable radios in a dispatch radio communications system. The central station includes a base station transceiver, a dispatcher console, a general communications controller (GCC), a digital communications computer and a display terminal. The base station transmitter and receiver communicate over an RF duplex channel to the transceiver of the mobile and portable radios. The dispatcher console provides for voice communications and is coupled by a transmit signal line and a receive signal line to the base station transceiver. The GCC provides for data communications and is also coupled to the transmit signal line and is interposed between the dispatcher console and the base station transceiver in the receive signal line. The GCC and mobile and portable radios include data muting apparatus enbodying the present invention. The data muting apparatus includes a detector for detecting the presence of a carrier signal and muting circuitry for muting the transceiver output for a predetermined time interval when a carrier signal has been detected. During the predetermined time interval, other circuitry may detect a synchronization word in a received data signal and mute the receiver output until still other circuitry detects the last bit of a following information word in the received data signal and unmutes the transceiver output. Thus, data signals at the beginning of each communication are muted without impairing voice communications.
Abstract:
CM-77891 MOBILE DATA TERMINAL A programmable mobile data terminal system sends and receives predeterminedly formatted digitally encoded messages. A keyboard subsystem and a character display subsystem are controlled by a programmable microcomputer subsystem which also processes received and transmitted messages. A transmit and receive system clock interrupts the operation of the microcomputer to process messages. The messages include a cyclical redundant check byte as well as a control number byte. Characters which are not editable blink. A terminal status display line is provided and a message received character is also provided. The system sets the system clock period to be the same for all data rates. Automatic restart of the system is provided as well as a means for detecting and generating a pseudo-random message preamble. Cursor positioning, memory interchange, and display keys are provided. Receipt and acknowledgement of various types of messages are also provided.

Abstract:
Data muting apparatus is described that mutes data signals communicated between a central station and mobile and portable radios in a dispatch radio communications system. A dispatcher at the central station also communicates with operators of the mobile and portable radios. The central station includes a base station having an RF transmitter and RF receiver, a dispatcher console, a general communications controller (GCC), a digital communications computer and a display terminal. The base station transmitter and receiver communicate over an RF duplex channel to the RF receiver and RF transmitter, respectively, of the mobile and portable radios. The dispatcher console provides for voice communications and is coupled by a transmit signal line and a receive signal line to the base station transmitter and receiver, respectively. The GCC provides for data communications and is also coupled to the transmit signal line and is interposed between the dispatcher console and the base station receiver in the receive signal line. The GCC and mobile and portable radios include data muting apparatus embodying the present invention. The data muting apparatus includes a detector for detecting the presence of a carrier signal and muting circuitry for muting the receiver output for a predetermined time interval when a carrier signal has been detected. During the predetermined time interval, other circuitry may detect a synchronization word in a received data signal and mute the receiver output until still other circuitry detects the last bit of a following information word in the received data signal and unmutes the receiver output. Thus, data signals at the beginning of each communication are muted without impairing voice communications. furthermore, since the receiver output is muted until the last bit of the data signal is detected, the muting apparatus can accommodate variable length data signals.
