Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge device which is improved in the electrical connection between first and second casings. SOLUTION: This hinge device is provided with a shaft installed coaxially with a rotary shaft, a first infrared communication unit fixed at a prescribed height on the second casing, and a supporting section which fixes the shaft and first infrared communication unit to prescribed positions on the second casing. This device is also provided with a second infrared communication unit which is fixed to the second casing and performs infrared communications with the first infrared communication unit.
