Abstract:
A method of reducing power consumption in a communication device includes a step of acquiring a signal on a common pilot channel of a radio communication system. A next step includes detecting predetermined bits in the signal on the common pilot channel indicating activity on paging channels of the radio communication system. When no paging channel activity is indicated in the second step, a last step includes powering down portions of the electrical circuitry of the communication device so as to reduce power consumption, and when paging channel activity is indicated in the second step, a next step includes powering up portions of the electrical circuitry of the communication device such that those paging channels indicating activity are monitored by the communication device.

Abstract:
The telephone includes a pilot circuit monitoring subscriber search activity to save power when no such activity is taking place. The power saving system comprises a first stage of collecting a signal from a communication base on a pilot channel. The next stage includes the detection of predetermined bits within the signal on the common pilot channel which indicate the occurrence of a search for specific users on the communication system. When no user search activity is detected within this second stage, the final stage operates to put certain electrical circuits of the mobile telephone into a low power standby mode, thereby reducing overall power consumption. When activity is detected in the user search component of the received signal, the telephone circuits are switched back to full power to enable receipt of an incoming call.

Abstract:
Described is a method and an apparatus (130) for performing the method to cancel interference caused by a windowing function applied to a signal prior to the signal being transmitted in a wireless communication system such as an OFDM system. The apparatus (130) includes receiver apparatus (410) that receives the signal to which the windowing function was applied. The apparatus further includes a processing device (725) coupled to the receiver apparatus, and the processing device obtains (either by generating in substantially real time or retrieving from a storage device (762) coupled to the processing device) a plurality of coefficients that are derived (455) from the windowing function, and applies (727) the coefficients to the received signal to cancel at least a portion of the interference from the received signal.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method, device and system for dynamically adapting a clear channel assessment threshold of a wireless communications channel by determining the status of a busy channel indicator for at least a first parameter (105) and dynamically changing the clear channel assessment threshold based on the status of the busy channel indicator (110).
