Abstract: A waveform generator for supplying driving current to the vertical deflection coils of a television receiver includes a source of linear sawtooth signals which are applied in phase opposition to a first product multiplier to produce a parabolic waveform. This waveform is applied to one of two inputs of a second product multiplier, the other input of which is supplied with the sawtooth signals to produce at the output of the second product multiplier a third order waveform used to supply driving current to the vertical deflection coils of the television receiver.

Abstract: A color television receiver is provided with the customary manual controls for permitting a viewer to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation and hue of the image reproduced by the receiver. In addition, preset controls for brightness, contrast, hue and saturation are provided, and a push-button switch is used to select either the manual or preset controls to establish the characteristics of the reproduced image. With the push-button switch set to select the automatic or preset controls, an AND gate is enabled to cause a shift in the color demodulator angles and further to cause the relative gains of the final output amplifiers to be changed to anhance colors in the range of skin tones reproduced by the receiver.

Abstract: A degaussing circuit used in a color television receiver includes a positive temperature coefficient resistor connected in series with the degassing coil, and in addition includes a circuit coupled with the filament winding of the receiver for applying a current through the coil in phase opposition to the current through the positive temperature coefficient resistor. The opposition current is of a magnitude equal to the residual current through the positive temperature coefficient resistor to reduce the current in the degaussing coil to zero after the degaussing operation is complete.

Abstract: A color television receiver providing for the direct demodulation of the red, blue and green color representative signals includes an additional pair of hue control demodulators for demodulating color difference signals on opposite sides of the I-axis by equal amounts. The outputs of the hue control demodulators are inverted with respect to one another and are supplied to an adder, which provides a DC control voltage indicative of the relative difference in the amplitudes of the signals obtained from the hue control demodulators. This control voltage then is supplied to a DC controlled variable hue control circuit which shifts the relative phase between the color sync oscillator output and the subcarrier to the demodulators by an amount sufficient to maintain the average outputs of the two hue control demodulators equal in amplitude.
