Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user of a cellular telephone to confirm a caller before responding to an incoming call by a caller ID by providing a selective housing off hook disable function which can open a device without responding to the incoming call. SOLUTION: When there is an incoming call in closed state of a housing, a controller 304 informs a user of the incoming call, compares a caller ID with caller information stored and indicates the state of a device. Then, the controller 304 responds to the incoming call when the housing becomes open state from closed state when there is no input signal and disables the response to the incoming call at the time of open state of the housing when there is the input signal. Subsequently, the controller 304 displays the caller ID when the housing becomes the open state from the closed state, and enables the housing off hook and responds to the call when there are input signals of a side button circuit 308 and a key pad circuit 306.

An internet radio for portable applications and uses such as in an automobile. The internet radio allows access to a host of audio, visual and other information. Normal radio channel function is provided along with programmable content and channel selection, as well as automatic content and channel updating by location and style. Internet access is also provided. Direct or targeted advertising, as well as electronic commerce is supported. Connection to the internet is through wireless communications. Programmability is achieved off-line via a web page and remote computer. Customized information is also communicated to the radio such as stock quotes, travel information, advertising, and e-mail. Onboard global positioning allows for channel updating by location, traffic information, geographic advertising and available similar content

A first sequence state storage module ( 20 ) periodically stores a present state ( 22 ) of a long code generator ( 30 ). Following a restoration of power after a power cut condition, or following the termination of any other interruption of the generation of the long code, a sequence recovery module ( 50 ) then provides an updated present state ( 36 ). The updated present state ( 36 ) is based upon a stored present state ( 24 ) and a time value ( 52 ) that is reset whenever the present state ( 22 ) of the long code or other sequence is stored and that is available even when the long code or other sequence is interrupted.
