    Abstract: The latching system of the present invention uses a ribbed (301, 302) latch (300) molded into the battery housing, a depression latch (504) molded into the radiotelephone housing, and rail connectors (220, 320) molded into the radiotelephone housing to connect a battery (350) to a radiotelephone (200). The battery housing slides along the rail connectors until the battery housing latch (300) engages into the radiotelephone latch (210). The battery housing (350) is removed from the radiotelephone housing (200) by depressing the upper portion (300) of the battery housing latch, thus rotating it out of the depression latch (200) and allowing the battery housing to be slid off the radiotelephone housing (200).

    Abstract: The present invention provides a multipurpose hinge apparatus for a foldable telephone on a flip element (104). The hinge apparatus comprises first and second cylindrical shafts (316, 310) which are inserted into respective first and second knuckles (318, 306). The first shaft (316) has first and second recesses (502, 504) located on its outer wall, wherein a cam element (314) when inserted into the first or the second recess holds the flip element in its respective open or a closed position. The second shaft (310) contacts a switch actuator (308) which in turn contacts a switch (302) only when the flip element is in the open position. By performing the detenting functions within the flip element, the possibility of small foreign objects jamming the hinge is reduced and by including the switch and switch actuator within the hinge, accidental activation or jamming or breaking of the switch is prevented.

    Abstract: A battery pack containing a battery of cells includes an outer casing (402) adapted to receive a battery of cells (404); a bonding surface (410) positioned along the outer casing (402); an inner casing (408) adapted to encapsulate the battery of cells (404) and having a surface for bonding to the bonding surface of the outer casing (402); and a bond provided at the bonding surface to bond the inner casing (408) to the outer casing (402). Also, a method for forming a battery pack comprises steps of positioning a battery of cells within a bonding surface of an outer casing of the battery pack; encapsulating the battery of cells with an inner casing, the inner casing having a surface corresponding to the bonding surface of the outer casing; and bonding the corresponding surface of the inner casing to the bonding surface of the outer casing. The battery pack and method for forming the battery pack reduce the weight and complexity in manufacturing.
