Abstract:
A three-stage snow thrower having a housing, a power supply, a longitudinal drive shaft extending from the power supply into the housing, and a lateral drive shaft extending between opposing side walls of the housing and being meshingly engaged with the longitudinal drive shaft within a gear assembly. The first stage assembly includes a plurality of augers attached to the lateral drive shaft for pushing loosened snow axially toward the gear assembly. The second stage assembly includes at least one auger attached to the longitudinal drive shaft for pushing snow from the first stage assembly axially rearward. The third stage assembly includes an impeller that rotates to throw the snow through a chute attached to the housing to expel the snow from the housing.
Abstract:
A combination blower assembly and string trimmer whereby the string trimmer head is easily detachable without the use of any tools. The device includes a blower assembly that further includes an upper and lower housing mated together to form a volute-shaped cavity where an impeller with airfoil-shaped blades reside. The detachable string trimmer head is located under the lower housing of the blower assembly and is easily attached or removed from the blower assembly by a simple push and turn motion. The blower assembly further includes an air inlet and air inlet cover. When the air inlet cover is rotated to a position where the air inlet is open the blower assembly is operable and the string trimmer is inoperable. Furthermore, when the air inlet cover is rotated to a position where the air inlet is closed the blower assembly is inoperable and the string trimmer is operable.
Abstract:
A mower blade (20) for a lawn maintenance device includes an elongate blade (24) having opposed end edges (26, 28) and opposed side edges (30, 34). The elongate blade (24) is adapted for mounting onto a rotary mower for rotation about a center axis (36) extended transverse to the elongate blade (24) and separating the elongate blade (24) into opposed elongate end portions (38, 40) extended from the center axis (36). The elongate blade (24) has a blade major axis (44) and defines a curved portion (54) such that the curved portion (54) is opposite a sharpened cutting edge (46). The curved portion (54) extends from the elongate blade (24) in an upward direction where the two meet and curves toward a lower face (56) of the elongate blade (24). Further examples of the mower blade (20) include the curved portion (54) being offset vertically from a sharpened cutting edge (46) to develop lift during rotation and a constant cross-section over most of the blade major axis (44).
