Abstract: PURPOSE:To optimize the overlap period of valves in response to the rotating speed of an engine by using a cam with twisted cam head and sliding the cam in the axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The cam head of a cam opening/closing a valve is twistingly formed, and the cam is slided in the axial direction in response to the rotating speed of an engine. Accordingly, timings of an intake valve and a discharge valve are changed, the overlap period is short at the low rotating speed of the engine, the overlap period is long at the high rotating speed of the engine, thus high performance can be obtained in the whole operating region.
