Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fluctuation in or deterioration of an antenna VSWR characteristic regarding attaching of a VHF blade antenna used for a spacecraft. SOLUTION: A VHF antenna 1 is attached to the body outer plate 2 of a spacecraft and covered with a radome 3 by keeping a prescribed space. The attaching section of the radome 3 is formed to be projected and covered with a flexible heat insulating material 4 for protection from heat since it is exposed to a high temperature during flight. Since mutual influence between the antenna 1 and the flexible heat insulating material 4 is prevented, no fluctuation occurs in relative positions thereof and direct contact is prevented, no fluctuation occurs in the relative positions and thus no change occurs in the VSWR characteristic of the antenna and communications are maintained between the spacecraft and a ground station.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure accurate displacement by providing two pairs of coils, i.e. total of four coils, on one side of each sensor of pairs of sensors which are arranged so as to face each other, wiring the two coils in series, and arranging the coils so that the polarities of the neighboring coils are opposite. CONSTITUTION:U-shaped sensor cores 11 - 14 are fixed to an annular supporting member 21 so that gaps are provided between a body to be detected 20 and the cores. A pair of sensor coils 1 and 2, a pair of sensor coils 3 and 4, a pair of sensor coils 5 and 6 and a pair of sensor coils 7 and 8 are provided at the respective poles of the cores 11 - 14. When the body 20 is displaced in the direction Y, the inductances of the coils 1 and 2 and 5 and 6 are changed. When the body 20 is displaced in the direction X, the inductances of the coils 3 and 4 and 7 and 8 are changed. The displacement of the body 20 can be detected by utilizing the changes in inductances. At this time, the coils are arranged so that the directions of the magnetic fluxes generated in the respective coils are directed in the reverse directions to each other when, e.g. the coils 1 and 2 are wired in series. Thus, the electromotive forces generated in the coils 1 and 2 are offset. Therefore the accurate displacement can be measured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify constitution and to branch and couple an optical input uniformly, by forming a coupler main body in a cylindrical shape, and preparing a refractive index distribution type lens whose distribution of a refractive index within a cross-section in a radius direction becomes maximum in the center of thickness. CONSTITUTION:The coupler main body 21 is formed in the cylindrical shape by a transparent material. And as for the distribution of the refractive indexes in X-Z axes, it is uniform in an X direction, and a Z direction, and in a Y direction, that is, in the radius direction of a cylinder, the maximum refractive index can be obtained in the center part within the cross-section, and the refractive index distribution type lens is formed. Also, an input port 22 and an output port 23 are placed under a conjugate relation optically by the distribution refractive index lens. In such a way, it is possible to suppress the distribution ratio of an optical signal at a low level by simplified constitution, and to perform assembling adjustment coupling with an input/output optical fiber 2 easily.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make feedback systems unnecessary, and achieve a simple constitution, by applying a broad-band spectrum laser to a laser light source. CONSTITUTION:By applying a broad-band spectrum laser BSL(which contains a super luminescence diode) to a light source, a laser beam having a half value width whose 2DELTAlambda is 10-100nm with a peak wavelength lambdaP as the center is obtained. When an input angular velocity OMEGA=0, the closed optical path lengths in the clockwise direction CW and in the sounterclockwise direction CCW of a passive-type ring optical resonator PRR are equal to each other, and a laser beam having a wavelength lambdaP is in resonance in the respective optical paths. When OMEGA=OMEGA, the optical path lengths in the directions of CW and CCW of the passive-type ring optical resonator PRR apparently expand and contract due to Sagnac effect, and a difference between the resonant frequencies in the directions of CW and CCW generates. Rotation quantity can be obtained thereby.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To transmit a great amount of data at a time by transmitting data for specifying an extended mode command for the number of transmitted data words and the number of transmitted words before a bus controller transmits a reception/transmission command. CONSTITUTION:Terminal equipments 3a-3n are connected to a bus controller 1 through a star coupler 12 by data buses 101a-102n which use optical fibers. THose terminal equipments 3a-3n are each provided with a transmitting buffer memory for storing transmitted data, and a receiving buffer for storing received data. To transmit a great amount of data at a time, an extended mode command for the number of transmitted words is received from the bus controller 1 and then data for specifying the number of transmitted words is transmitted to all the terminals. Then, the controller 1 transmits a transmission/reception command to a receiving terminal and a transitting terminal. Further, the transmitting terminal transmits a great amount of data in extended mode to the receiving terminal at a time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high accuracy laser gyro by providing two ring laser devices for emitting one-directional progressive wave which rotates around an input axis i.e. a detected body, and emit laser light in the direction opposite with each other and a photo detector for detecting beat frequency of laser output. CONSTITUTION:To measure the angular velocity or displacement of moving bodies as detected bodies, two ring laser devices for one directional progressive wave URL1, URL2 through which wave of each devices progresses in the opposite direction to the input axis IA are equiped with a photo detector ROD for detecting beat frequency of the output of the both laser. Each URL has a laser oscillator LT, total reflection mirrors PM, a partly transmitting mirror TM and one-directional progressive wave device UD, while the ROD has a total reflection mirror PM, beam splitter BS and photo detector PD. Thus, high accuracy is contrived without the occurrence of standing wave at micro input angular velocity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the dead region around the angular velocity of a laser gyro omega=0 by detecting a one-way traveling wave ring laser rotating with an input axis which is a detected substance and the output beat frequency of a reference linear laser. CONSTITUTION:The frequency of laser light L2 takes a constant value depending on closed optical path length if a normal passing the center of the closed optical path surface of a one-way traveling wave ring laser URL is regarded as a sensitivity axis. In the angular velocity omega of the sensitivity axis, the frequency varies in directly proportional to omega by Doppler effect. When the modulated light L2 and laser light L3 from a reference linear laser RLL not sensing omega are interfered by combining them as the same directional traveling wave through an output read device ROD, interference fringe is generated by heterodyne effect and the fringe moves by a difference between the frequencies of L2 and L3, namely, by the velosity which is proportional to those beat frequencies. Therefore, the laser gyro recognizes omega by measuring its beat frequency.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ring laser flow meter for measuring the flow velocity of a transparent fluid precisely by eliminating generation of a beat frequency due to effect in a place involving an angular speed of a turning aircraft, for example. SOLUTION: A ring resonator 3 comprising a plurality of high reflection mirrors arranged to form a closed optical path has an 8-shaped ring laser oscillation optical path wherein the area surrounded by two closed optical paths intersecting at one point are identical. Consequently, even if an angular speed is generated around an axis passing through the plane surrounded by two closed optical paths, Sagnac effect of same magnitude takes place in opposite direction in two closed optical paths. Since the Sagnac effect is canceled for the entire ring laser, the flow velocity of a transparent fluid can be measured precisely even in a place involving a rotation.
