Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a granular catalyst for hydrogenating an organic nitro compound which is easy of handling and its simple production method having good reproducibility. SOLUTION: The catalyst for hydrogenating an organic nitro compound which is constituted of a granular composite inorganic ion exchanger obtained by synthesizing a heteropolyacid compound (HPA) expressed by the formula: (X)3PMo12O40.nH2O (wherein, X is a replaceable cation; (n) is the number of moles) and carrying it in the pores of a porous inorganic carrier and its production method are provided.
