Abstract:
A wire matrix print head in which a plurality of wires are caused to be propelled against a record medium by respective clapper-type, solenoid actuated, print wire armatures (48) for printing dot matrix characters. The support means (20, 34) carrying the solenoids (24, 26, 40) and the housing portion (42) carrying the armature (48) and print wires are secured together by a fastening member (72) which has a flange portion (80) at one end and a plurality of fingers (78) at the other end thereof. This arrangement provides a simplified structure for the print head as the fastening member (72) serves the combined function of fastening several parts of the print head together and providing a home-position seating for the driving end (54) of the armatures (48).
Abstract:
A wire matrix print head includes a generally circular portion (20) for supporting a plurality of electromagnetic actuators (30, 32) and their associated armatures (34) for driving print wires (36) which are supported and guided in a nose portion (44) of the housing a precise distance from a non-printing to a printing position. The print head includes a print wire support and guide system (62, 70, 90) comprising a first guide member (62) for directing the wire (36) toward an aligned configuration, and a third guide member (90) for receiving and retaining the wires (36) in said aligned configuration. The print wire support and guide system (62, 70, 90) is assembled separately from the main body of the print head to facilitate the insertion of the print wires (36) and is thereafter inserted into the nose portion (44) of the print head.
Abstract:
An assembly including a wire coil carrying bobbin (50) and a printed circuit board (34) having conductors (44) thereon. The bobbin (50) has first and second posts (68, 70) extending through corresponding apertures (40, 42) in the printed circuit board (34). Each post (68, 70) has first and second grooves (72, 74) extending along it and each end (82) of the coil wire (80) extends along and within said first groove (72), across the tip (84), and along and within said second groove (74) of the respective post (68, 70) and is soldered to the reverse side of the printed circuit board. Assembly is accomplished in one operation wherein a single aperture in the printed circuit board serves both as an aperture for the post and as an aperture for the wire end.

Abstract:
Abstract:
