    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system for processing sales promotion data from a host computer by storing the sales promotion data in an EPL(electronic price label) data file maintained by the EPL system. SOLUTION: Host sales promotion data are down-loaded to an EPL computer (62). The recording of the host sales promotion data are read (64). The recording is checked for judging whether or not an EPL is related with the PLU number of the recording (66). The format of the recording of the host sales promotion data is checked (68). The host sales promotion data are re-formatted to a format in which the host sales promotion data can be easily inputted to an EPL data file (70). The recording is stored in the EPL data file (72). EPL software reads the EPL data file and transmits the data to the EPL. Conversion software judges whether or not the recording is the last recording of the host sales promotion data (74).

    Abstract: An electronic price label system including groups of electronic price labels (22A), an apparatus for grouping electronic price labels (EPLs) (22A) to form an electronic sign, and a method of managing the groups which facilitate group definition, assignment of EPLs (22A) to groups, assignment of items to EPLs (22A), and assignment of prices to items, are disclosed.
