Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for displaying random weight item information by an electronic price label(EPL). SOLUTION: The system is provided with a computer system having a terminal 24 and a storage medium 26 connected to the terminal 24 and including an EPL data file 32 having the identification(ID) information of each item and connected to an EPL 22. The computer terminal 24 reads out the file 32, acquires the ID information, determines whether the item is a random weight item or not, and when the item is the random weight item, sends a message to the EPL 22 and instructs the EPL 22 to display only unit price information. The message instructs the EPL 22 to display a unit price in a unit price part on a display 56 of the EPL 22, and to display the unit price in a total price part on the display 56 or to clear the total price part.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for verifying an alternative message or a sales promotion message in an EPL system. SOLUTION: A display verification program determines data and hour of the system, and reads first information corresponding to a message that is supposed to be dislayed on an EPL during the present time from a message control file. The program reads out the second information corresponding to the message that is displayed on the EPL at the present time from an EPL data file. When the two information are different each other, the program transmits to the EPL a message including the information from the message control file and a command for displaying the information.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To integrate/arrange information for display of an electronic price list(EPL) by generating codes where a plurality of types of information and parameters for storing and displaying a plurality of types of information are incorporated. SOLUTION: Data integration/arrangement software 34 reads a business information data file 48 and acquires business information of an identified type of an item associated with the EPL. A business information code is generated by combining business information with constitution information. Data integration/arrangement software 34 stores the business information code in an EPL data file 32 and makes EPL software 30 plan a message which contains the business information code and a command for storing and displaying encoded business information and which is to be transmitted to the EPL 22. A control circuit 52 in the EPL 22 receives the message, decodes the business information code and displays it.
