    Abstract: Provided is a fatty acid chloride which is manufactured by a simple method, which does not cloud and which has stable color over time. A fatty acid chloride is produced by causing a fatty acid with a carbon number of 8-22 and phosphorous trichloride in a proportion of one-third to two-thirds with respect to the fatty acid to react and removing phosphorous acid that appears as a byproduct to obtain a reaction product.     Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing, by a simple method, a fatty acid chloride that does not cloud and has stable color over time. A fatty acid chloride is produced by causing a fatty acid with a carbon number of 8-22 and one-third to two-thirds molar equivalent, with respect to the fatty acid, of phosphorous trichloride to react and, after static layer separation, removing byproduct phosphorous acid to obtain a reaction product. By refining this reaction product, obtained is a refined product in which the byproduct phosphorous acid is no more than 0.20% by weight as the phosphorous content. 0.03-0.07% by weight of the phosphorous trichloride, as phosphorous content, is added to this refined product.

    Abstract: A detergent composition which contains a taurine derivative (a) represented by the formula (I) and at least one anionic surfactant (b) selected from the group consisting of anionic surfactants having a sulfuric acid group or sulfo group, acylamino acid type anionic surfactants, and C8-22 fatty acid salts, in a specific proportion. The detergent composition lathers well (even when an oily ingredient coexists) and the lather is creamy. When cleaning is conducted with a detergent comprising the composition, the detergent gives no slimy feeling during rinse and the lather can be eliminated rapidly. After cleaning (after drying), the detergent gives neither a stretched feeling nor a dry feeling to the skin. The detergent attains an excellent finishing of cleaning.
