Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition which is characterized in that it can be used for imparting good texture to the material to be washed, when used for washing by soaking, by incorporating a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant or the like, and a maleic anhydride-based copolymer, in specific amounts. SOLUTION: A compound represented by formula I, wherein R an 8-24C alkyl, alkenyl or aryl, AO is a 2-4C oxyalkylene and (n) is a number of 7 to 20; one member selected from among an anionic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant, an amine oxide and an alkanolamide; and a copolymer (a derivative thereof) of maleic anhydride with styrene, isobutylene or a compound represented by formula II, wherein X to X are compounds of formulae III to VI (wherein each of R and R is a 2-5C alkenyl, R is a 1-24C hydrocarbon or acyl and AO is a 2-5C oxyalkylene), B is a 2-8C residue of a hydroxyl group-containing compound, etc., are incorporated in amounts of 5 to 40 wt.%, 0.1 to 15 wt.% and 0.1 to 20 wt.%, respectively.
