    Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for providing a barrier coating 400 for a surface, wherein the apparatus comprises a layer 302 comprising a plurality of two-dimensional platelets 302 of a first material such as mica, bentonite clays, boron nitride or graphene oxide; and at least another layer 403 covering the first layer. The layer of platelet or plate-like particles stops the ingress of moisture and is packed to allow the surface to bend and flex. The coating can be used within an OLED device. In some arrangements the layers have hydrophobic parts defining passages of a hydrophilic material thus being able to draw away contaminants from one region to another.

    Abstract: An apparatus 1 comprises a capacitive touch arrangement 3 comprising a plurality of drive lines 7 and a plurality of sense lines 9, wherein the arrangement is provided in a first layer 15.     Abstract: Apparatus 10 comprises a flexible laminate structure 2 comprising a first layer L1 and second layer L2 and has perforations 4 that extend through the first layer but not through the second layer. The first layer is a functional layer 12 used to enable user input to or output from the apparatus such as a touch screen or display.     Abstract: A device for monitoring biometric parameters comprises: a light collector 3, configured to collect ambient light 13, provide the collected light 27 to a portion of skin 17 of a user and filters the collected light to increase the proportion of light within a selected range of wavelengths; a photodetector 5 enabling biometric parameters to be monitored by detecting changes in the light absorbed by the portion of skin 17; and an amplifier. The light collector may comprise a photoluminescent material to absorb light of a first wavelength and reemit light within selected ranges of wavelengths. The range of wavelengths reemitted may be used to monitor heart rate or blood oxygen levels. The light collector and photodetector may be positioned adjacent to the skin of the user where the user may wear the device. A supplementary light source may be provided which may comprise one or more light emitting diodes.

    Abstract: A template material layer having a periodic profile is formed on a flexible printed circuit board substrate whilst the substrate is maintained in a stress free state. Conformal thin film circuit board layers are subsequently deposited over the template material. The template material may a sacrificial material removable by etching or sublimation to form cavities between the thin film circuit board layers and the flexible substrate. Alternatively the template material may be retained. Electronic devices mounted on the thin film layers are subjected to reduced stress when the flexible circuit is stretched or bent when in use. The flexible printed circuit can be used where repeated stretching or bending is required in, for example, textile and folding display screen applications
