The invention relates to new dispersions of particles of a surface-stabilised polymer in a non-aqueous medium, in which the polymer essentially comprises hydrophilic cationic monomers. The invention also relates to a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition containing said dispersion in a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable medium. The invention further relates to a method for the cosmetic treatment of keratinic materials using said composition.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer that can retain a suitable hair style, as easy untangling properties of the hair is maintained, and is useful as a hair styling composition or the like by allowing this polymer to include a specific star-like structure and to, satisfy specific conditions. SOLUTION: This polymer includes star-like structure represented by the formula: A-[(M1)p1-(M2)p2...(Mi)pj]n A is a multifunctional center that is n- functional; [(M1)p1-(M2)p2...(Mi)pj]n is so called one branching chain and means the polymer chain formed by polymerization of a monomer Mi with a polymerization index (degree) of pj and is covalently grafted to A; n, i, pj are each >=2} and contains one or more kinds of monomers Mi so that the following conditions may be satisfied: the polymer corresponding to the monomer Mi has a Tg of >=10 deg.C, preferably >=15 deg.C, more preferably >=20 deg.C, and the content of the monomer Mi is set to about 55-95 wt.%, preferably 60-93 wt.%, more preferably 65-90 wt.% based on the final polymer.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolymer useful as a composition for cosmetics or dermatoses by including a graft unit of a hydrophobic macromonomer in a copolymer prepared by the radical polymerization or polycondensation. SOLUTION: This graft copolymer comprises a copolymer having a skeleton (S) obtainable by the radical polymerization or polycondensation and 0-30 deg.C glass transition temperature Tg and is obtained by including at least one graft unit composed of a hydrophobic macromonomer (M) having a higher glass transition temperature T'g than 25 deg.C in the skeleton S. A hydrocarbon, a hydrofluorocarbon, etc., are cited as the macromonomer M. The resultant graft copolymer is soluble and dispersible in water, a lower alcohol or a mixture of water with the lower alcohol(s) and is capable of imparting excellent cosmetic characteristics and water resistance and good film-forming characteristics to hair or skin.

One subject of the present invention is a cosmetic composition for treating keratinous fibres, in particular human keratinous fibres such as the hair, which comprises at least one polymer obtained from dielectrophilic monomers. The composition of the invention makes it possible to give the hair body, bulk or volume in a long-lasting fashion. Another subject of the invention is use of the cosmetic composition for treating keratinous fibres, especially conditioning and/or dyeing keratinous fibres.

The invention especially relates to a linear, ethylenic, sequenced copolymer containing at least one ionic hydrophilic pattern in each sequence. Said pattern can be different from one sequence to the next, and each sequence contains between 2 and 100 wt. % thereof in relation to the weight of said sequence. The invention also relates to a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising one such copolymer, and to a cosmetic make-up method or a care method for keratin materials using said composition.

The invention relates to a hyperbranched polymer comprising at least three polymer branches. Said branches form either the main branch or a secondary branch and each comprise at least one branch point which is at least trivalent in order to form at least two different and independent branch points which are at least trivalent, each branch point being disposed at the core of at least one chain. The invention is characterised in that it comprises at least one polymer sequence having a glass-transition temperature (Tg) of between -150 and -20 DEG C, preferably between -150 and -30 DEG C and, more preferably still, between -150 and -40 DEG C. According to the invention, a hair-fixing and/or -setting composition comprises more than 50 wt.- % of the aforementioned polymer sequence, and preferably more than 55 % or, more preferably still, more than 60 %, in relation to the total weight of the polymer.

SOLUTION: The method comprises a process compounding an oil phase with at least one kind of linear or cyclic polyorganosiloxane. The polyorganosiloxane contains at least two organosiloxy units, and at least two side chain groups and/or terminal groups each capable of forming one or more partner groups and at least one hydrogen bonding. The method can be used for improving the durability of the coloring effect and/or luster of a lipstick, a mascara or an eyeliner, or for improving the durability of the mat effect and/or coloring effect of a foundation, a powder, a cheek rouge, an eye shadow or a body makeup.
