Abstract: The invention relates to bicatenary betaine compounds of formula: in which formula R1 and R2 denote a C12-C18 hydrocarbon radical, n is an integer or decimal number between 1 and 5 and m is equal to 1, 3 or 4. The invention also relates to a process for the manufacture of these compounds, to a polymer obtained by means of these compounds, to a process for the manufacture of the said polymer and to a use of the polymer as a stabilising agent for vesicles.
