Abstract: Im Allgemeinen weist eine Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Offenbarung eine Gartenbaubeleuchtungsvorrichtung (1) auf, die eine Mehrzahl von LED-Lichtkanälen hat, die selektiv mit Energie versorgt werden können, um ein vorgegebenes Lichtmuster zu erzeugen. Die LED-Lichtkanäle können jeweils eine oder mehrere Wellenlängen emittieren und können bei einer Rate gepulst sein, die von dem menschlichen Auge nicht wahrnehmbar sein kann, beispielsweise bei 120 Hz bis 720 Hz. Pflanzen können auf Lichtmuster biochemisch reagieren, die eine Zeitverzögerung, beispielsweise von 500 µs bis 5 ms, zwischen den Lichtpulsen aufweisen. Es wurde gezeigt, dass die biochemische Reaktion das Pflanzenwachstum signifikant erhöht, beispielsweise um bis zu 100 %, verglichen mit Pflanzen, die mit Beleuchtungssystemen angebaut wurden, die kontinuierliche, nicht-gepulste Lichtquellen verwenden. Daher umfassen Aspekte und Ausführungsformen, die hierin offenbart sind, eine Gartenbauvorrichtung, die in der Lage ist, Lichtmuster zu emittieren, die eine vorgegebene Verzögerungsdauer zwischen dem mit Energie Versorgen/Pulsieren der LED-Lichtkanäle einführen, um die Photosynthese zu unterstützen.

Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein includes a method for operating lighting fixtures in horticultural applications. The method may include receiving a user input of a desired irradiance for a first color channel of one or more lighting fixtures that irradiates a plant bed, in which each of the one or more lighting fixtures comprises at least one light emitting diode (LED) array, determining, for each of the one or more lighting fixtures, a PWM setting of the first color channel such that each of the one or more lighting fixtures irradiate the plant bed at the desired irradiance based on calibration data stored in each of the one or more lighting fixtures, and applying, to each of the one or more lighting fixtures, the determined PWM setting of the first color channel.

Abstract: A highly efficient discharge lamp has a color rendering index greater than 75, alumens per watt rating greater than 90, a correlated color temperature of between 3500 and 4040.degree.K, and a wall loading greater than 17 W/cm2. The lamp comprises an outer glass envelope and a pair of electrical conductors extending thereinto. A quartzdischarge tube is disposed within the outer envelope and includes a pair of spaced electrodes which are electrically connected to the electrical conductors for creating an electrical discharge during operation of the lamp. The discharge tube has an arcchamber or arc cavity with the configuration of a prolate spheroid having a major meter and a given arc distance as measured by the linear distance between the interior terminations of the electrodes, the ratio of the major diameter to the arc distance being less than 1 and greater than 0.9. An arc generating and sustaining medium within the arc chamber comprises the halides of sodium, scandium, lithium, thulium, in a ratio of 48:1:10:16, and a thallium amalgam. A fill gas selected from argon and xenon, and a given quantity of mercury to achieve a desired lamp voltage completes the chemical dose.

Abstract: Method for introducing a limited amount of mercury into a fluorescent lamp during manufacture thereof includes the steps of forming the lamp with an exhaust tubulation therein open at an end thereof, exhausting the interior of the lamp through the exhaust tubulation, placing a body of metal material not reactive with mercury in the exhaust tabulation open end; the body having a coating of metal which amalgams with mercury, over a selected surface area of the body, and having mercury on the coated area of the body, such that a limited amount of the mercury is retained by the metal coating, and sealing the open end of the exhaust tubulation, whereby the amount of mercury retained on the body and introduced into the lamp is limited by the surface area of the metal coating on the body.
