Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel device for lamp, capable of continuing the airtight sealing property for a long period by sintering the first part of a multiple part plug directly to a discharge tube, and sintering the terminal part directly to a related lead-in wire. SOLUTION: A cremate terminal plug 8b in the second end part of a discharge tube vessel 5 is formed of seven ring-like parts or layers 11a-11g. The first innermost part 11a has a inner surface 12 facing a discharge volume and is formed of pure alumina. An adjacent part 11b contains about 15% tungsten and alumina, and the ratio of tungsten is increased toward the outside part. The terminal part 11g contains about 40-43% tungsten, and its thermal characteristic is matched to the thermal characteristic of a molybdenum tube 7b which acts as a lead-in wire. The other parts 11a-11f keep a gap of about 50 μm from the molybedenum tube 7b without making mutual contacts.

Abstract: Various implementations disclosed herein includes a method for operating lighting fixtures in horticultural applications. The method may include receiving a user input of a desired irradiance for a first color channel of one or more lighting fixtures that irradiates a plant bed, in which each of the one or more lighting fixtures comprises at least one light emitting diode (LED) array, determining, for each of the one or more lighting fixtures, a PWM setting of the first color channel such that each of the one or more lighting fixtures irradiate the plant bed at the desired irradiance based on calibration data stored in each of the one or more lighting fixtures, and applying, to each of the one or more lighting fixtures, the determined PWM setting of the first color channel.

Abstract: A high intensity discharge lamp (10) has an envelope (12) having a base end (12a), a middle portion (12b) and domed end (12c) arrayed along an envelope longitudinal axis (14). A light source (16) has an arc discharge capsule (16b) positioned within the frame (38) and a containment vessel (18) is spaced from and surrounds the arc discharge capsule 16b. The containment vessel (18) comprises a transparent structure (19) attached to the frame (38) and formed to provide multiple, independent, localized fractures capable of absorbing the given kinetic energy possessed by the shards.
