Abstract: A broadcast data receiver is disclosed. The broadcast data receiver includes a base unit, and a mobile unit which is detachably attached to the base unit. The base unit is capable of receiving broadcast data directly from a broadcaster and/or from a further broadcast data receiver communicating therewith. Data is transmitted between the base unit and the mobile unit when the mobile unit is attached to the base unit, and detection means is provided in the receiver to detect detachment of the mobile unit from the base unit. Upon detection of detachment or reattachment of the mobile unit from the base unit, indication means provided in the receiver provides an indication to a user of one or more events that may be missed following detachment, or that have been missed during detachment of the mobile unit from the base unit.
