    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give a replay function and/or a slow motion function to a receiver for the video contents which are received and projected via a TV set, etc., by using a memory which has a 1st part that receives instantaneously the data and a 2nd part which preserves a data packet that is previously received and displayed and also shifted from the 1st part. SOLUTION: A memory of a receiver has a 1st part which functions as a moving buffer memory part and a 2nd part. The 1st part moves, updated as the time elapses and preserves a data packet that is displayed the latest. When a prescribed time elapses, the 1st part is updated by a later data packet and the data packet so far preserved in the 1st part is shifted to the 2nd part. The 2nd part preserves the data packets in a certain time sequence, and at least a part of duration of the time of determined according to the size of the memory.

    Abstract: A broadcast data receiver (BDR) is provided and a method of using the BDR for the production of a pseudo stable reference control for the reliable generation of composite video signals. The BDR receives video, audio and/or auxiliary data from a broadcaster can stored a part of all of the data in storage means, typically in the form of a hard disk drive. When the BDR is deriving video data from the hard disk due to the BDR being disconnected from the signal feed from the broadcaster, the BDR uses a pseudo stable reference produced by deriving one or more values from stable frequency information embedded in incoming data. The pseudo stable reference is used to control the frequency of a VCXO in the BDR, thereby allowing accurate colour subcarrier frequency generation for the generation of a final video output. The one or more values can be average stable reference control values extracted from the incoming data or the one or more values can be derived from locking the frequency of the VCXO to an off air incoming data stream.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method for searching the frequency range of a digital data receiving device, said method including the steps in one embodiment of firstly identifying and disregarding analogue carrier frequencies in the range, then proceeding to estimate the initial starting frequency for a digital carrier by dynamic real-time pre-processing of the spectrum profile and then obtaining successive samples of the frequency range from the start position for the carrier until the centre frequency for the carrier is located. In one embodiment the method includes the prediction of the centre frequency estimations of all digital carriers for respective channels in the range prior to the search commencing. The method reduces the possibility of locking to analogue carriers, and can reduce the time required to perform a search in comparison to the current digital carrier frequency "search & lock" procedure
