    Abstract: The quick-action clamp has two semicircular segments (3,4) of U-shaped cross-section. They are hinged together at one end, and at the other end are held together by a nut (1) with a knob (7) enabling it to be turned by hand. The nut has a female thread engaging a male thread on a spindle hinged (11) to the end (12) of one of the segments (4). The nut engages the end of the second segment (3) urging it towards the end of the first segment (4). When the nut is unscrewed to release the clamping force, the spindle and nut may be swung out of the way, allowing wide opening of the two segments. USE/ADVANTAGE - Screw clamp with quick release mechanism.
