    Abstract: Provided is a plasma display panel driving method by which display qualities of an image is improved by estimating the highest possible temperature and the lowest possible temperature of a panel based on a temperature detected by a temperature sensor and by performing suitable drive. A plasma display device is also provided. The method has at least three drive modes having different sub-field configurations, i.e., low temperature drive mode, room temperature drive mode and high temperature drive mode. The highest possible temperature and the lowest possible temperature of the panel are estimated from the temperature detected by the temperature sensor, the panel temperature status is judged from the highest possible temperature or the lowest possible temperature, and the panel is driven by switching the mode to a suitable drive mode, corresponding to the temperature status of the panel.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which does not have a large temperature gradient caused on a front substrate even if an FPC to be connected to a sustain electrode is reduced. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel has the followings arranged facing each other: a front substrate 21 on which a plurality of scanning electrodes 22 and a plurality of sustain electrodes 23 are formed; and a rear substrate on which a plurality of data electrodes are formed. Further, short circuit wires 56 which electrically short-circuit the plurality of sustain electrodes 23, a plurality of auxiliary short circuit wires 57 which are electrically connected to the short circuit wires 56 and are in parallel to the short circuit wires 56 and have narrower width than the short circuit wires 56, and a plurality of electrode terminals 53 which are electrically connected to the short circuit wires 56 and are grouped into a plurality of electrode terminal groups 54a-54e are formed on the front substrate 21.     SOLUTION: In a method of driving a plasma display panel including a plurality of discharge cells each of which has a display electrode pair comprising a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode and a data electrode, by constituting one field of a plurality of subfields each of which has a write period and a sustain period for which a sustain pulse rising from a base potential to a sustain pulse voltage and then falling to the base potential is applied to the display electrode pair, a rising ramp voltage is applied to the scanning electrode after the last sustain pulse in a sustain period is applied to the sustain electrode, and a period when a voltage applied to the sustain electrode falls like a ramp is provided during falling of the last sustain pulse in the sustain period.
