A transmitting method according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes transmitting a first stream, the first stream including: timing update identification information id1 indicating whether or not a correspondence relationship between a first reference clock and a second reference clock has been updated, the first reference clock being used to transmit and receive the first stream, and the second reference clock being used to transmit and receive a second stream related to another content to be reproduced in synchronization with the content related to the first stream; a first time according to the first reference clock; and a second time according to the second reference clock, the second time being associated with the first time based on the updated correspondence relationship.

A transmission method includes: dividing a picture into a plurality of regions; generating a plurality of pieces of encoded data that respectively correspond to the plurality of regions by encoding the plurality of regions such that each of the plurality of regions can be decoded independently; packetizing by storing the generated plurality of pieces of encoded data in a plurality of packets; and a transmitting step of transmitting the plurality of packets. In the packetizing step, the plurality of pieces of encoded data are stored in the plurality of packets such that pieces of encoded data for different regions are not stored in a single packet. By this, workload for generation of decoding target data is reduced.

A storage method according to one aspect includes: a reception step of receiving a coded stream including a plurality of files that are of a data unit in a predetermined file format; a storage step of accumulating the received plurality of files of the coded stream in a memory; and a generation step of generating first control information used to play back the stored plurality of files, the first control information correlating the plurality of files. Therefore, the method for accumulating data in which one coded stream is divided into a plurality of files is provided.

A transmitting method according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes: transmitting video control information for reproduction of video data having an individually reproducible unit; transmitting the video data; determining a transmission order of audio control information for reproduction of audio data in a reproduction interval corresponding to a reproduction interval of the video data in such a way that the audio control information is transmitted after the video control information, and transmitting the audio control information according to the determined transmission order; and transmitting the audio data. Thus, in the receiving apparatus, a delay time from reception of data to reproduction of video and audio is shortened.

A transmission method for transmitting encoded data obtained by hierarchically encoding a video image, includes: a generating step of generating an encoded stream including a packet which is obtained by packetizing the encoded data and to which at least a different packet ID has been allocated according to a layer level of the encoded data, and information indicating an association relationship between the packet ID and the layer level; and a transmitting step of transmitting the generated encoded stream, and the generated information indicating the association relationship. Thus, there is provided the encoded data transmission method which allows a reception side to easily select encoded data which is hierarchically encoded.

A transmitting method according to one general aspect of the present disclosure includes: a packetizing step of packetizing (1) sample data, (2) first meta data and (3) second meta data that configure a file of an MP4 format, while the sample data is data obtained by encoding a video signal or an audio signal, the first meta data is used to decode the sample data, and the second meta data includes data that can be generated only after generation of the sample data and is used to decode the sample data; and a transmitting step of transmitting the packetized first meta data, the packetized sample data and the packetized second meta data in order.
