Abstract:
A communications cable is provided with a matrix tape that attenuates alien crosstalk when cables run near one another. The matrix tape is provided with conductive segments. The conductive segments are preferably provided on two layers of the matrix tape. In one embodiment, the conductive segments are attached to a film with an adhesive. A barrier tape is preferably provided between the cable core and the matrix tape.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a barrier tape used as part of a communication cable to improve crosstalk attenuation. The barrier tape is provided with one or more barrier layers of discontinuous conductive segments. Conductive segments of one barrier layer are preferably sized and shaped to overlie gaps between conductive segments of another barrier layer.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector decreasing cross talk between pair conductors connected in the connector and simply being connected, and to decrease cross talk between twist pair type conductors connected in the connector. SOLUTION: A modular type plug connector 20 has a positioning passage 30 for almost plane column-like conductors for positioning in order to connect an individual conductor 21 with a plurality of plane insulator peeling-off contacts 36. A plurality of conductor connecting slots 34 are formed so as to be parallel to each conductor positioning passage and communicate with each other, and while the contacts are connected, when the insulator peeling off-contacts are put in the conductors, each conductor is energized, and shifts positions of adjacent conductors. a latch arm 56 having a free end is installed in a modular type plug, the free end 52 is extended downward toward the peak wall 25 of the connector, and terminated in a position adjacent to the surface of the connector, or extended in a recessed part on the surface of the connector. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attenuate alien crosstalk.SOLUTION: A barrier tape (32) is used in a communication cable (22) having a plurality of twisted pairs (26) made of a conductor. The communication cable operates within a signal frequency range having the maximum signal frequency. When the twisted pairs made of a conductor have an average pair lay length, the barrier tape includes an insulating base material and at least one barrier layer comprising a plurality of conductive segments separated with gaps. Each conductive segment has a longitudinal direction length longer than the average pair lay length, and further shorter than a 1/4 wavelength of a signal transmitted at the maximum signal frequency.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector in which cross talk between a pair of conductors connected in the connector is reduced and which is connected simply, and reduce cross talk between twisted pair conductors. SOLUTION: A modular type plug connector 20 is provided with a positioning passage 30 of conductors in a nearly plane-shape row which positions each conductors 21 for connection by a plurality of plane-shape insulator stripped contacts 36. A plurality of conductor connecting slots 34 are formed parallel to and so as to communicate with each of the conductor positioning passages, and while the contacts are connected, when the insulator stripped contacts are inserted into the conductors, each of the conductors is energized into the slot and shifts the position of the adjoining conductors. The modular type plug has a hooking arm 56 with a free end and the free end 52 extends downward toward the top wall 25 of the connector and ends at a position close to the surface of a connector or extends into a recessed portion of the surface of the connector. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce alien talking further and improve frequency response of a cable having a twisted pair of one or more signal wires.SOLUTION: A cable foil tape having a shape of a random or pseudo-random pattern or long pattern-length discontinuous metal and a method of producing the foil tape having the pattern are provided. In some embodiments, a region or a path of a metal layer of the foil tape is removed selectively, and a random distribution of a randomized shape, a pseudo-random pattern or a long pattern-length discontinuous shape is formed on the metal layer by using a laser cutting system. In some embodiments, the foil tape is double-sided, having a metal layer on each side. The laser cutting system can cut a nonconductive passage to the metal layer on both sides of the foil tape.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the mitigation of alien crosstalk and to improve the frequency response of a cable having more than one twisted pairs of signal wires.SOLUTION: The provided cable foil tape has a non-continuous metal shape of a random or pseudo-random pattern or of a long pattern, and a method for manufacturing the foil tape having the pattern in question is also provided. In several embodiments, a laser cutting system is used so as to selectively remove metal layer regions or paths of the foil tape and to yield, on the metal layer, a random distribution of a randomized shape or a non-continuous shape of a pseudo-random pattern or of a long pattern. In several embodiments, this foil tape is of a double-sided type having metal layers on the respective sides of the foil tape, whereas the laser cutting system is capable of severing non-electroconductive passages to metal layers existing on both sides of the foil tape.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector which reduces cross talk between conductor pairs terminated in the connector and is easily terminated while reducing cross talk between twisted pair conductors terminated in the connector.SOLUTION: A modular plug connector 20 comprises substantially planar aligned conductor positioning channels 30 that position individual conductors 21 for termination by a plurality of flat insulator displacement contacts 36. A plurality of conductor termination slots 34 are formed parallel to and in communication with each of the conductor positioning channels such that insertion of insulator displacement contacts into the conductors during termination of the contacts causes each of the conductors to be forced into the slots to shift adjacent conductors. The modular plug is provided with a latch arm 56 that includes a free end 52 that extends downwardly toward a top wall 25 of the connector to terminate in close proximity to the surface of the connector or extends into a depression in the surface of the connector.
Abstract:
Cable foil tape having random or pseudo-random patterns or long pattern lengths of discontinuous metallic shapes and a method for manufacturing such patterned foil tape are provided. In some embodiments, a laser ablation system is used to selectively remove regions or paths in a metallic layer of a foil tape to produce random distributions of randomized shapes, or pseudo-random patterns or long pattern lengths of discontinuous shapes in the metal layer. In some embodiments, the foil tape is double-sided, having a metallic layer on each side of the foil tape, and the laser ablation system is capable of ablating nonconductive pathways into the metallic layer on both sides of the foil tape.
