Abstract: A release latch for a pre-terminated cassette is described. The pre-terminated cassette includes a release latch to allow removal of the pre-terminated cassette from a patch panel, where the patch panel includes a retaining feature for retaining the pre-terminated cassette. The release latch includes a cantilever beam located on the sidewall of the pre-terminated cassette. The cantilever beam has a hinge point that allows the beam to deflect with respect to the sidewall. The release latch further includes a depressing tab provided at the distal end of the cantilever beam and a latch tab protruding from the surface of the cantilever beam between the hinge point and the depressing tab. The latch tab is capable of engagement with the retaining feature of the patch panel when the cassette is installed in the patch panel.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activation tool which is used to terminate a field fiber in an optical fiber connector incorporating a pre-polished fiber stub and does not use a crimp for retaining the field fiber.SOLUTION: An activation tool 20 includes: a base 1500 which supports and positions an optical fiber connector 10; and a cam activation tool handle 1600 which activates a cam mechanism of the optical fiber connector 10, which connects and fixes a field fiber to a fiber stub. When the cam activation tool handle 1600, which is freely rotatable, is engaged with a cam connector in order to rotate a cam between a deactivation position and an activation termination position, the base 1500 supports a ferrule holder component and a backbone component of the optical fiber connector 10 and locks these components to prevent the movement in an axial line direction and rotational movement of these components.
