Abstract:
A method and apparatus for verifying the termination quality of an optical fiber interface in a fiber optic connector is provided. The test apparatus generally comprises a light source providing light to a test connector which contains an interface of a stub fiber of a fiber optic connector and a field fiber of a fiber optic cable. The portions of the test connector that are located between the optical fiber optic interface and the light detector are transmissive while other portions of the test connector located near the interface are highly reflective.
Abstract:
A cable strain relief module assembly for securing a cable and providing strain relief is described. The cable strain relief module assembly includes a module and a twist nut. The module has a male threaded portion and the twist nut has a female threaded portion. A portion of a cable may be captivated between the male threaded portion of the module and the female portion of the twist nut when the module and twist nut are engaged.
Abstract:
A box mount (10) for securing a bundle of wires (28) by a metal cable tie (30) to a mounting surface (26) being integrally formed and having rounded surfaces (20) that cooperate with and contact the cable tie (30). Integral support tabs (24) are also provided to give added strength to the mount (10) in the direction that the cable tie strap (30) is tightened.
Abstract:
A plug locking assembly comprises at least one plug holder comprising opposing top and bottom arms, said top and bottom arms extending tranversely from a wall and defining open spaces therebetween, said open spaces for receiving and holding plugs. The plug holders are typically positioned adjacently to one another or in tandem and the configuration of the opposing top and bottom arms allows for side installation of plugs. The plug locking assembly may further comprise a cover overlying the plug holders.
Abstract:
In accordance with the following description, an optical communication connector includes a ferrule having retractable alignment pins that are actuable between an extended position and a retracted position. For example, the connector may include an inner housing assembly having optical fibers and an outer housing positioned over the inner housing assembly. The outer housing is shaped to be removable from the inner housing assembly, which has a movable pin clamp mechanically coupled to alignment pins for aligning the connector with another connector. The pin clamp may be slid from a first position (corresponding to a male gender) to a second position (corresponding to a female gender). Separately or in combination with changing gender, the polarity of a communication connector may be changed due to its inclusion of an asymmetric polarity-changing feature that is actuable by an installer to change a polarity of the communication connector. Such a feature may actuated by being moved from a first position to a second position relative to the communication connector.
