Abstract: A window handle assembly for use with a window having a moveable sash. The assembly including a window handle having a pivot mechanism The handle pivotable at the pivot mechanism between open and closed positions. When open, the handle is free to rotate to move the sash between open and closed positions. When closed, the handle engages a cover t o provide a sleek, aesthetically pleasing handle structure for the window. The assembly also including a lock activating mechanism coupled to the pivot mechanism and operationally couplable to a sash lock mechanism. The lock activating mechanism configured to operate the sash lock upon pivoting movement of the window handle. Opening of the handle opens the lock and closing the handle closes the lock. This mechanism including a sliding bar connectable to the sash lock and a movement mechanism causing sliding movement of the bar upon pivoting movement of the pivot mechanism.

Abstract: The operator assembly for a casement window includes a folding crank hand le and cover assembly that are located on the exterior surface of a trim piece on the sill of the window frame. The crank handle is attached to the drive shaft of the operator of the assembly in such a way that the handle may be folded down into a low-profile position in which the knob of the handle projects into a receiving pocket in the cove r. An integral flap on the handle extending beyond the knob covers the pocket when the knob is received therein so as to fully conceal both the knob and the pocket and to present a smooth exterior in which surfaces of the handle and cover blend together to eliminate interference with window treatments and persons in the immediately vicinity. Internal detent projections within the pocket yieldably retain the knob so as to provide for snap fit reception of the folded handle into its home position. Finger depression s in sidewalls of the cover on opposite sides of the pocket facilitate gripping of the edge s of the handle for unfolding, even though the handle presents a relatively thin cross sectional configuration in the vicinity of the cover flap and pocket. An alternative embodiment discloses an egress operator assembly in which the single link arm that swin gs the sash between opened and closed positions has a hump adjacent its inner end that clears the worm gear of the operator assembly when the arm is in its fully closed position, thus allowing the arm to cross over the worm gear and lie along the sill in a compacted condition when the sash is closed.

Abstract: A dual glazing window having a removable glazing panel 32 is provided with a breather system connecting the air chamber 34 between the glazing panels 30 and 32 with the outside ambient air by routing an outwardly facing channel 38 into the window rail 26 or stile member 60 either on its end edge or side face. The abutting rail or stile member will close the open side of the channel in the end edge while the adjacent glazing panel closes the channel in the side face. A breather sleeve 68 is press fitted into the channel to protect the wood from absorbing moisture.

Abstract: A true divided look is provided in an insulated two-pane window assembly through use of a resilient silicone foam internal muntin bar grid which is low in thermal conductivity to limit heat transfer between panes and is high in flexibility to allow for bending when forming curved shapes. The grid is secured by adhesive on one side to one pane of glass, thereby allowing natural expansion and contraction of the glass panes. The resilient muntin bar includes the resilient muntin bar being Ushaped with a base from which legs extend which are compressible and adapted to move laterally in response to pressure from the panes due to changing thermal conditions or bonding of external wooden muntin bars to the panes. Movement of the panes toward each other would be limited by bottoming out against the base of the resilient muntin bar.

Abstract: A window frame member is substantially pre- manufactured leaving only cutting the mortise and tenon ends of the rail and stile frame members along with cutting the glass stop to the required width. The pre-manufactured frame members include a continuous groove to receive removable glazing panel retention clips. A breather channel opening is cut in the mortise end of the stile frame member avoiding a separate drilling operation. The window frame is versatile and will accommodate multiple window accessories including a muntin grid and light control means such as a blind between two window units. An energy transmittance control system provides a balanced effective control of ultraviolet and near infrared light while maximizing transmission of the visible light. In a three glazing pane window assembly the outer pane includes two transparent silver metal layers while the inner pane includes one silver layer. One silver layer is provided on a stretched polyester film suspended between the outer and middle panes in a krypton filled insulated glass unit.
