Abstract: An improved smoking article wrapper is disclosed which significantly reduces sidestream smoke using magnesium carbonate in the form of magnesite as a filler. Smoking articles which employ such wrappers exhibit a significant reducing in sidestream smoke emission without adverse effect on subjective characteristics.
