Abstract: PURPOSE: To send a freely fluid material to an individual housing space by a prescribed quantity each time at high speed. CONSTITUTION: A measuring drum 30 distributes the freely fluid material 8 to an air permeable transporting tape 12. The material 8 is held on the transporting tape by giving vacuum to the transporting tape, and carried to a pocket 16 mounted on a continuous belt 17. When the transporting tape moves under the pocket, the effect of vacuum given to the transporting tape is stopped and second vacuum is given to pull the freely fluid material into the pocket. The freely fluid material is released into a space between filter plugs which are brought on an air permeable garniture tape 31 later. In one execution example, carrying to the space between the filter plugs from the pocket is helped by vacuum given to the garniture tape.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a method for sending a free-flowing material to an individual housing space where a filter plug at a partially constructed cigarette filter assembly is separated. CONSTITUTION: The process for speedily sending the free-flowing material such as charcoal to a partially constructed cigarette filter assembly is included. The free-flowing material is fed to a first conveyer and next transported to a second conveyer positioned in parallel over the first conveyer. Vacuum is used for holding the free-flowing granular material on a first conveyer and also for transporting the free-flowing material to the second conveyer to hold there. The free-flowing material is transported to a housing space formed between articles like cigarette filter plugs arranged on a third conveyer next. The transportation of the free-flowing material to the housing space and the holding of it are facilitated by giving vacuum.
