Abstract:
A developer composition for photosensitive coatings on substrates, particularly lithographic printing plates sensitized with substantially water-insoluble diazonium compounds, which is comprised of an aqueous solution of an amphoteric surfactant and a substantially water-soluble organo-lithium salt, e.g., lithium naphthenate, lithium benzoate, lithium ricinoleate, etc. The novel developers quickly remove non-image areas of the plate and yet do not detrimentally dissolve the image areas of the plate.
Abstract:
Photosensitive plates for the preparation of relief printing plates, which photosensitive plates have a mat or grained surface on the photosensitive material. Novel process for the preparation of the mat or grained surface which comprises causing the photosensitive material to take the configuration of a grained or mat surface of another material, for example, a grained metallic plate or a mat finish plastic film. e.g., polyester film, or paper which has a mat finish surface. The light-sensitive material may be solvent-coated onto the mat or grained surface of the other material, dried and then the surface of the photosensitive material away from the side of contact with the mat or grained surface material may be laminated to a support which ultimately is used for mechanical support of the relief image in the exposed and developed plate and also for lock-up of the plate on the press.
Abstract:
Methyl substituted halomethyl-s-triazine suitable for reaction with an aldehyde and a condensation catalyst in an organic solvent to produce a chromophore substituted vinyl halomethyl-s-triazine can be made by reacting haloacelonitrile with acetonitrile and a Friedal Craft catalyst, adding hydrogen chloride, dissolving the resultant product in organic solvent that is to be used in the second stage of the reaction, purging the solution with inert gas, adding water and separating insolubles. The resultant solution, generally after drying, can be used without further purification procedures.
Abstract:
Radiation sensitive compositions comprising acrylic or methacrylic acid esters with decreased oxygen inhibition attained by use of minor amounts of N,N min -diorgano dicarboxamide additives. The acrylated ester compositions are suitable for ultraviolet curable coatings.
Abstract:
Radiation-hardenable pressure-sensitive adhesive mixt. contains (1) a water-insol. monomer mixt., (2) a tackifier, (3) a polymerisation inhibitor, (4) opt. a photo-initiator, (5) opt. a mono-unsaturated diluent, (6) opt. a poly-unsaturated diluent and (7) opt. a plasticiser. Monomer mixt. (1) is a solvent-free liq. contg. 0% free NCO gps. and consists of the reaction prod. of (1,1) 1 wt. equiv. intermediate prod. contg. 1 NCO gp. with (1,2) 1 wt. equiv. monomeric, olefinically unsatd. cpd. contg. exactly 1 active H atom. The intermediate is the reaction prod. of (1,1,1) 1 wt. equiv. organic, monomeric cpd. contg. more than 1 active H atom with (1,1,2) 2 wt. equivs. organic polyisocyanate. The pressure-sensitive adhesives are used in the prodn. of self-adhesive coatings and adhesive tapes. The mixt. can be hardened by radiation to a permanently adhesive condition having sufficient adhesion, and can be peeled cleanly off smooth surfaces.
