    Abstract: A pedal unit for a motor vehicle comprises a base element (12) rotatable about an axis of oscillation (A) and intended to be connected with a control device of the motor vehicle, a pedal arm (50) articulated to the base element (12) about a first pin (62), a lever control member (40) articulated to the base element (12) about a second pin (60) and having an appendage (44) adapted to interfere with a counter element (B) of the motor vehicle as a result of an impact. Mutually slidable shaped formations (48, 58), respectively formed on mutually facing portions associated with the lever control member (40) and the pedal arm (50), allow the unit (10) to assume a first configuration in which the pedal arm (50) and the lever control member (40) constitute a unitary element together with the base element (12), and a second configuration in which the pedal arm (50) may rotate freely with respect to the base element (12).

    Abstract: A pedal unit for a motor vehicle comprises a swinging pedal arm (12), a base element (30) which may swing together with the pedal arm (12) in order to control a device of the motor vehicle, and a lever control member (56) movable with respect to the pedal arm (12), having an appendage (68) adapted to interfere with a counter element of the motor vehicle as a result of an impact. The pedal arm (12) is rotatable about a first pin (24, 27) and has a front opening (20), the base element (30) has a pair of slots (36) for the engagement of the first pin (24, 27) and another pair of slots (38) in which a second pin (64) engages. The first pin (24, 27) and the second pin (64) engages also respective holes (60, 62) of the lever member (56). A rotation of the lever member (56) causes the pins (24, 27, 64) to slide in the respective slots (36, 38) and the base element (30) to move in a position facing the front opening (20), in which the pedal arm (12) may rotate with respect to the base element (30).
