PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for flexible scheduling of feature films and advertisements, integration of audio and image signals, and easy implementation of safety measures, among other features and advantages. SOLUTION: An apparatus and method for encoding and storing signals representing at least image information onto a storage medium (100) is disclosed. A source generator (108) is configured to convert the signals into digitized image information. A compressor (112) is configured to receive the digitized image information from the source generator (108) and compress the digitized image. An encryptor (112) is configured to receive the compressed digitized image information from the compressor (112) and encrypt the compressed digitized image information. The specification and drawing figures describe and illustrate a system for sensing cargo loads and trailer movement that includes a mobile wireless communications system. A mobile computing platform is mounted on a remote vehicle and operatively connectable across the mobile wireless communications system. Sensor data are collected and stored in the mobile wireless communications system and the mobile computing platform, and may be transmitted across the mobile wireless communications system. At least one program is stored either in the mobile wireless communications system or the mobile computing platform, or both, for using the sensor data to determine equipment use, placement, and positioning in relation to a vehicle and sending one or more sensitivity reports to the asset manager.

A system (306) and method for transparently providing access to a wireless communication service to a group of subscribers (302) who abate a set of modems (310), when each subscriber in the group is provided with a subscriber unit (304) and each subscriber in the group is associated with static and dynamic authentication information. According to one embodiment, the system includes a transceiver system (318, 320, 322) for transmitting radio wave frequency signals to and receiving radio wave frequency signals from a base station (120); a set of modems (312), wherein each modem (310) in the set is coupled to the transceiver system; a set of subscriber units (304), wherein each subscriber unit is associated with authentication information; a switch (308) coupled to each of the modems and coupled to each of the subscriber units (304); a control system (314) in communication with the switch (308) and each of the modems; and a database (317) for storing the authentication information, wherein the database is accessible to the control system. The control system (314) determines an available modem from the set of modems when one of the subscriber units is activated. Further, the control system (314) directs the switch (308) to connect the activated subscriber unit (304) with the available modem (310), retrieves from the database (317) authentication information associated with the activated subscriber unit, and provides the available modem (310) with the retrieved authentication information. In this manner, the authentication information associated with the activated subscriber unit (304) is provided to the modem (310) that is handling the call. Consequently, the modem handling the call can transparently authenticate the subscriber unit in the same manner as in a conventional wireless communication service.
