PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make lossless compression without reducing compression efficiency. SOLUTION: A method of losslessly compressing and encoding signals representing image information is claimed. A lossy compressed data file and a residual compressed data file are generated. When the lossy compressed data file and the residual compressed data file are combined, a lossless data file that is substantially identical to the original data file is created. An encryptor (112) is configured to receive the compressed digitized image information from the compressor (112) and encrypt the compressed digitized image information. Un generador de fuente (106) está configurado para convertir las senales en informacion de imagen digitalizada. Un compresor (112) está configurado para recibir la informacion de imagen digitalizada desde el generador de fuente (108) y comprime la imagen digitalizada. Un encriptador (112) está configurado para recibir la informacion de la imagen digitalizada comprimida desde el compresor (112) y encripta la informacion de imagen digitalizada comprimida. Abstract of Disclosure An apparatus and method for decoding of encoded signals representing at least image information from a storage medium is claimed. A storage device is configured to receive the storage medium. A decoder is configured receive the compressed encrypted encoded signals from the storage medium, and send the signals to a decryptor. The decryptor is configured to decrypt the compressed encrypted encoded signals, and send the signals to a decompressor. The decompressor is configured to receive the compressed encoded signals from the decryptor and to decompress the compressed encoded signals to enable display of the image.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for the detection of errors in compressed digital image is disclosed. In one embodiment, a signature is generated using a multiple input shift register and added to the compressed information. The signature is verified at the decoder to detect an error in the compressed information. Other information such as the frame number and/or color component type of the compressed image can also be verified to detect errors in the compressed information. In other embodiments, the decoder detects errors if there are bits remaining after decompression and/or if there are invalid codes at decompression. Once an error is detected, the compressed information can be discarded or re-sent and processed. Therefore, the detection of errors can significantly enhance at least the reliance of systems such as digital cinema that require compression of large amounts of data.
