Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate multiple-phase selective connection establishment in wireless communications networks. Radio resource control (RRC) layer communications can be instantiated between a mobile device and base station. Additional information can be required by a downstream network component regarding the mobile device. Accordingly, the RRC resources can be utilized to transmit the additional information from the mobile device to the network component to facilitate the multiple-phase establishment. This can be accomplished using non-access stratum (NAS) messages. Further, the information can relate to authorization, security re-configuration, context re-synchronization, an identity of the mobile device, and the like.
Abstract:
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for sending a message for random access by user equipment (UE).SOLUTION: The UE sends the message on a control channel for random access and sends a reserved channel identifier to indicate the message being sent on the control channel. In another aspect, the UE sends the message in a protocol data unit (PDU) and sends additional information in the PDU if the UE can accommodate to the additional information. In yet another aspect, the UE generates a short MAC-I (message authentication code for integrity protection) for the message. The short MAC-I may have a smaller size and may be used to authenticate the UE. In yet another aspect, the UE sends a UE ID for one of multiple types of random access and conveys the UE ID type via a format field in the message.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change UE configurations in order to execute a handover in a wireless communication system.SOLUTION: A handover is initiated via a measurement report transmitted to a source eNB from UE. The measurement report comprises one or more of current radio conditions, a current UE configuration or a preferred target eNB if the handover is an inter eNB handover. The current UE configuration is forwarded to the preferred target eNB by the source eNB. The target eNB generates a delta configuration that details changes required in the current configuration in order to execute the handover, and transmits it to the source eNB in a transparent container which is forwarded to the UE. The delta configuration is transmitted to the UE requesting the handover.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for re-establishing radio contact, the system providing a method for performing a wireless handoff for user equipment (UE) when the UE performs a handoff from a source extended Node-B (e-NB) to a target e-NB.SOLUTION: The method comprises: detecting a radio link failure (RLF) between the UE and the source e-NB by the UE; and maintaining an active communication service at a service layer of the UE after detecting the RLF and when the UE performs the handoff from the source e-NB to the target e-NB, such that the communication service remains continuously active during the handoff, the communication service supporting a first communication between the UE and a third party.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate handover and enable interoperability between eNode Bs implementing different protocol versions from different vendors.SOLUTION: A target base station creates a handover command message, and transmits it to a source base station. The source base station enciphers the handover command message on the basis of an existing security association between a terminal and the source base station, encapsulates it into a radio resource control message, and transmits it to the wireless terminal.
