Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for cell reselection by a wireless communication device is described. The method includes camping on a serving cell in idle mode. A neighbor cell is detected. A serving cell rank is computed for the serving cell. A neighbor cell rank is computed for the neighbor cell based on multimedia broadcast multicast service metrics. Cell reselection is determined based on the serving cell rank and the neighbor cell rank.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided that include decoding multicast broadcast communications where scheduling information related to a multicast channel is not properly received over a control channel. Media access control (MAC) packets can be decoded to determine whether a MAC subheader indicates the packet relates to a logical channel by indicating an associated channel identifier. Where the channel identifier of the MAC packet matches that of a requested logical channel data in the MAC packet can be provided to a communications layer. Subsequent packets can be processed and provided to the communications layer until a different channel identifier is encountered.
Abstract:
A method an apparatus and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. An apparatus e.g. user equipment (UE) receives a reporting requirement for one or more Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) physical layer parameters. The UE obtains the one or more MBSFN physical layer parameters including at least one parameter corresponding to a reference signal and creates a report based on the obtained one or more MBSFN physical layer parameters. The UE may obtain the one or more MBSFN physical layer parameters using user plane or control plane based mechanisms. The user plane mechanism involves the use of a modified version of the reporting mechanism for Quality of Experience (QoE) metrics. The control plane mechanism involves the use of a modified version of the reporting mechanism for the Minimization of Drive Tests (MDT) metrics.
Abstract:
A method an apparatus and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided for prioritizing the performance of measurements during measurement gaps and the reception of multicast/broadcast content. The apparatus receives a configuration from a serving cell to perform a measurement during a measurement gap of a unicast service while in a connected mode. In addition the apparatus determines whether to refrain from leaving the serving cell on a first frequency and performing the measurement on a second frequency of a neighboring cell in order to receive multicast/broadcast content associated with a multicast/broadcast service during the measurement gap.
Abstract:
When a user equipment engaged in mobile communications transfers from a network with one radio access technology (RAT) to another network with a different radio access technology maintaining continuity of location based services can improve system performance. A user equipment may perform a series of checks when undergoing inter RAT transfer to determine if a location based services protocol used with the source network is operable on the target network. The UE also determines if location based services sessions are at a point where they can be continued following inter RAT transfer. Where possible protocols and sessions are maintained to preserve location based services continuity.
Abstract:
A method an apparatus and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus monitors a page during a current paging cycle on a first frequency. In addition the apparatus switches to a second frequency after the current paging cycle to receive multicast/broadcast information on the second frequency. Furthermore the apparatus attempts to receive the multicast/broadcast information on the second frequency before a predetermined time.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for a broadcast client of a wireless communication network. A method may include receiving broadcast content via broadcast delivery on a first resource associated with a first set of carriers. The method may include determining during unicast idle mode a second set of carriers comprising neighbor carriers in a current cell. The method may include modifying handoff priorities of the first set of carriers and the second set of carriers based on membership of each carrier in a common set of carriers comprising the first and second sets of carriers and further based on a priority order specified by the wireless communication network. The method may include determining whether to hand over to at least one carrier in one of the first and second sets of carriers based on a handoff decision that takes into account the modified handoff priorities.
Abstract:
A method an apparatus and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a user service description (USD) message. When a frequency indicated in the USD message is not a current frequency the apparatus determines that a system information message is received determines that the frequency indicated in the USD message is included in the system information message determines that the frequency is a neighboring cell frequency sets a priority of the frequency to a highest priority and measures a signal strength of the frequency when the frequency is included in the system information message performs a cell reselection determination procedure based on the signal strength of the frequency performs cell reselection to the neighboring cell based on a result of the cell reselection determination procedure and acquires the multicast service in the neighboring cell on the frequency.
