Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques for performing location logging and location and time based filtering.SOLUTION: In one design of location logging, a terminal periodically determines its location during its paging slots. The terminal determines whether there is a change in its location and stores its location if the change is detected. In one design of location and time based filtering, the terminal obtains a location and time criterion with a target area and a time period. The terminal determines its location during the time period on the basis of the location log. The terminal evaluates the location and time criterion on the basis of the target area and its location during the time period, on the basis of at least one sector ID for the target area and one or more sector IDs for its location. The terminal determines whether to download and/or present broadcast information on the basis of the result of the evaluation.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for customizing and personalizing advertisement delivery in a broadcast system.SOLUTION: An access terminal comprises: a module to receive a presentation; a module to select an advertisement; and a module to insert the advertisement into the content of the presentation, and is configured to receive the presentation and select the advertisement to insert into the content of the presentation before the presentation is provided to the display for viewing by the user.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more effective scheme for higher-quality broadcasting and a scheme for much more economical utilization of a communication resource, in a method and an apparatus for performing enhanced file distribution in a multicast and a broadcast. SOLUTION: A user can access a file for the broadcast in a communication system for providing a broadcast service. Contents of the file for the broadcast, which are required to process the broadcast file, are differently transmitted from those of file attributes. Through such arrangement, more effective download and processing can be expected in the broadcast file by receiving the file attribute earlier than the contents file. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling content viewing upon a mobile device.SOLUTION: Parents can desire to limit content viewable upon a mobile device, and a universal integrated circuit card can be programmed to limit viewing upon the mobile device. A user completes a service request form that includes an allowable view threshold for content upon the mobile device. The request can transfer to a service provider, sometimes via a base station. A subscription manager can forward the threshold back to the mobile device, and the mobile device can program the threshold upon secure storage. When content is received, it can be compared against the threshold, and it is determined whether the content is viewable in light of the threshold.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for performing enhanced file distribution in multicast communication or broadcast communication allowing more efficient download and processing of a broadcast file. SOLUTION: In a communication system providing broadcast services, files for broadcast are accessible by users. The content of the broadcast files and the content of file attributes required to process the broadcast files are separately sent. As arranged thus, receiving the file attributes ahead of the content files allows more efficient download and processing of the broadcast files. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for securely presenting content in a mobile station. The mobile station may have a smart module, a security agent, and an air interface for communicating with a content provider and with a remote content rights manager. The smart module stores content presentation units and has a proxy content rights manager for when the mobile station is unable to receive secure content keys from the remote content rights manager using the air interface. In the method, content presentation units are transferred from the remote rights manager to the smart module for storage. Secure content keys are requested from the smart module for allowing presentation of content requested while the mobile station is unable to communicate with the remote rights manager. The secure content keys are transferred, based on a stored content presentation unit, from the proxy content rights manager to the security agent for allowing content presentation.
Abstract:
Techniques for sending and receiving broadcast information are described. In an aspect, broadcast metadata may be generated for broadcast information and may include location and time criteria used by terminals to filter the broadcast information. Each location and time criterion may include (i) a location criterion given by a target location and a presence or absence requirement and (ii) a time criterion given by a time period in which the location criterion applies. A terminal may receive the broadcast metadata prior to or with the broadcast information, obtain location and time criteria from the broadcast metadata, and filter the broadcast information based on the location and time criteria. The terminal may evaluate each location and time criterion by determining its location within a specified time period and determining whether its location is within or outside a specified target location, as indicated by the presence or absence requirement.
