A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus establishes a file delivery session (910) with a server in a broadcast network for system information. The apparatus also receives a plurality of metadata fragments (912a-912d, 914a-914d) in the file delivery session. The plurality of metadata fragments including at least one initialization segment description fragment (912d, 914d), wherein the at least one initialization segment description fragment is associated with at least one media segment (942a-942g, 962a-962g) transmitted in another file delivery session (940, 960).

Techniques are provided for receiving one or more representations of content wirelessly. The method may involve receiving a media presentation description (MPD) that includes parameters for reception of data segments for multiple representations of content via broadcast transmission and unicast transmission (2312). The method may involve determining whether the broadcast transmission or the unicast transmission is appropriate for reception of the data segments (2314) and selecting a given representation from among the multiple representations of the content based on a criteria of the mobile entity (2316). The method may involve receiving the data segments for the given representation based at least in part on the parameters for the determined one of the broadcast transmission and the unicast transmission (2318).

Embodiments provide bandwidth efficient mechanisms for delivering data to a receiver device via a wireless broadcast network such that data may be assembled in the receiver device for use by a local application. In the various embodiments, data files may be broadcast as content elements via the broadcast network using the FLUTE protocol during a FLUTE session. In an embodiment, the content elements may be broadcast according to a broadcast schedule that may identify a time at which the content elements will be broadcast and the broadcast schedule may be communicated in a file delivery table (FDT) transmitted during a FLUTE session.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. An apparatus notifies a user equipment (UE) of an upcoming multicast/broadcast of data intended for receipt by a group of UEs assigned a machine type communication (MTC) class. The UE has one or more MTC classes assigned to it and is configured to awake for the upcoming multicast/broadcast of data if the data to be broadcast corresponds to an MTC class assigned to the UE. The apparatus also multicasts/broadcasts the data intended for receipt by a group of UEs through at least one multicast/broadcast mechanism.
