Abstract: A new radio (NR) user equipment (UE) registration procedure that may be executed by a UE and a network is disclosed, resulting in a UE registration that may be more efficient than existing UE registration procedures. For example, the UE registration procedure may utilize messaging between an extensible authentication protocol (EAP) component and a non-access stratum (NAS) component to abort the registration procedure when a non-recoverable EAP failure occurs, or suspend or re-start a NAS registration timer when a recoverable EAP failure occurs.

An exemplary method generally includes communicating with a first network using a first set of credentials, wherein the UE includes a second set of credentials associated with a second network; receiving a paging message for an information transmission in the second network, wherein the paging message includes service priority information corresponding to the information transmission; determining, from the service priority information, a service priority value corresponding to the information transmission based, at least in part, on policy configuration information; determining whether to establish a connection in the second network in response to the paging message based, at least in part, on the service priority value; and taking one or more actions based, at least in part, on the determination.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may prevent rejected attachment requests when connecting to a trusted wireless local area network (WLAN) and from a wireless wide area network (WWAN). For example, an attachment packet data network (PDN) connection may be maintained with the WWAN while connected to the trusted WLAN. In some cases, the connection used to maintain the attachment may be an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) connection. Alternatively, the UE may determine that the WLAN connection is a trusted connection and deactivate the WWAN connection. Should the WLAN become unavailable the UE may reactivate the connection with the WWAN.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may receive, from a 4G/LTE device and via a 5G/NR base station, a first handover command message identifying at least one of a measurement configuration or a measurement gap for identifying a 2G/3G cell, wherein the first handover command message is associated with a 5G/NR to 2G/3G handover of the UE via 4G/LTE; transmit, to the 4G/LTE device and via the 5G/NR base station, a measurement report regarding the 2G/3G cell based at least in part on the measurement configuration and/or the measurement gap; and tune to the 2G/3G cell based at least in part on a second handover message, received from the 4G/LTE device via the 5G/NR base station, for performance of the call via the 2G/3G cell.
