Abstract:
Disclosed are techniques for transmitting bundles of silence indicator (SID) frames during a voice call among a plurality of access terminals. In an aspect, a source access terminal detects a transition to a silence state, generates, in response to detection of the transition, at least a first bundle of SID frames, wherein each SID frame of the at least the first bundle of SID frames includes data representing comfort noise to be played at one or more target access terminals of the plurality of access terminals during the silence state, and transmits the at least the first bundle of SID frames to a base station serving the source access terminal. In an aspect, the base station receives the at least the first bundle of SID frames, and periodically forwards SID frames of the at least the first bundle of SID frames to the one or more target access terminals.
Abstract:
A method includes: receiving a first speech frame; identifying a first codec mode based at least in part on a Codec Mode Command (CMC) comprising the first speech frame; identifying a second codec mode based at least in part on a downlink (DL) Codec Mode Indication (DCMI) comprising the first speech frame; determining, based at least in part on a current uplink (UL) codec mode, to apply one of the first codec mode, the second codec mode, and a third codec mode having a higher bit rate than the first codec mode; and applying one of the first codec mode, the second codec mode, and the third codec mode. Apply the first codec mode when the RxLev and RXQual are determined not to exceed a predetermined threshold, and applying second or third codec modes otherwise.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, articles of manufacture, and methods for obtaining system information for a wireless communication device are described. According to some embodiments, a subscription supported by the wireless communication device enters a paging reorganization mode. The wireless communication device acquires a portion of system information by a first subscription using a radio frequency (RF) resource. The subscription changes a paging mode of the wireless communication device. The subscription releases the RF resource after acquiring the portion of the system information and prior to acquiring all of the system information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, apparatuses, and devices are described for managing wireless communication at a user equipment (UE). An exemplary method includes adding an identifier of a cell to a sub-optimal cell list based at least in part on a cell classification determination made by the UE, and avoiding a cell access procedure for the cell based at least in part on inclusion of the identifier in the sub-optimal cell list. Another exemplary method includes maintaining a sub-optimal cell list and an associated priority service exception list, initiating a service on the priority service exception list, identifying inclusion of a cell on the sub-optimal cell list, where the cell is associated with a cell access procedure initiated for the service, and accessing the cell included in the sub-optimal cell list based at least in part on inclusion of the service in the priority service exception list.
Abstract:
A method is provided for implementing a local call hold in a dual subscription dual active first communication device. A first voice call may be established with a second communication device via a first communication network. An indication of a second voice call may be received from a third communication device via a second communication network. The first voice call may be placed on hold by sending a call hold indicator within a regularly transmitted frame to the second communication device. The second voice call may be established with the third communication device after placing the first voice call on hold. The first voice call with the second communication device may be subsequently resumed by excluding the call hold indicator from the regularly transmitted frame to the second communication device.
Abstract:
Various examples for performing remote authentication of a virtual subscriber identity module (SIM) on a multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device include receiving, on a first subscription of the multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device, an authentication request from a virtual SIM network. The multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device may respond to one or more acknowledgement requests sent from the virtual SIM network to the first subscription before tuning from the first subscription to a second subscription of the multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device to send the authentication request to a remote server. Upon receipt of the authentication response from the remote server through the second subscription, the multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device may send the authentication response to the virtual SIM network through the first subscription.
Abstract:
Various embodiments implemented on a multi-subscription-capable communication device (e.g., a mobile communication device capable of supporting more than one wireless subscription) enable a data connection for a blanked subscription to be kept alive during transmit (Tx) blanking by ensuring at least one Packet Data Traffic Channel (PDTCH) transmission is sent to the network before the network's counter for PDTCH transmissions expires.
Abstract:
Access terminals capable of employing multiple subscriptions are adapted to prevent out-of-service periods for one or more subscriptions. According to one example, an access terminal can establish a data communication on a first subscription utilizing a first network, and an idle mode connection on a second subscription utilizing a second network. A determination can be made that the first subscription is indicating data transfer. In response to such a determination, the second subscription can attempt a change from a radio access technology associated with the second network to a different radio access technology. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention include devices, systems and methods for enhanced system information decoding. For example, a method for wireless communication by a multi-SIM wireless communication device is described. The method includes determining time codes (TC) associated with system information (SI) messages for a first subscription. The method also includes determining that multiple SI messages for the first subscription are being sent on the same TC. The method further includes prioritizing decoding the SI messages for the first subscription when activity of an additional subscription can be preempted. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
