Abstract:
Techniques provided herein are directed toward adjusting the rate at which a mobile device's barometric pressure sensor takes measurements, based on whether movement is detected from motion sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and the like. Where movement is below a threshold (e.g., below a threshold speed or within a threshold distance), then the barometric pressure sensor can reduce the sampling rate to a rate that still enables the mobile device to account for changes in the weather. If movement is detected (e.g., greater than a threshold distance), then the sampling rate of the barometric pressure sensor increases (i.e., to a normal rate for determining vertical movement changes).
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and methods for tracking position of a mobile device within a venue. In an aspect, the mobile device obtains a plurality of light source identifiers and a plurality of location identifiers corresponding to a plurality of light sources within the venue, determines a first position of the mobile device within the venue, the first position having a first position accuracy, determines a subset of the plurality of light source identifiers corresponding to a subset of the plurality of light sources based on a location of each light source in the subset of light sources being within a threshold distance of the first position, demodulates a fragment of a light source identifier, and determines a second position of the mobile device based on one or more location identifiers corresponding to the light source, the second position having a greater position accuracy than the first position accuracy.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and apparatus for capturing, collecting, and distributing event information displayed on sign. The method may include capturing, by a mobile device, an image of a sign that displays information for an event. The method may also include extracting information for the event from the captured image of the sign, and determining a location of the mobile device when the image of the sign was captured. Furthermore, the method may include uploading, to a server a time when the image was captured, the information for the event extracted from the captured image, a location of the event determined from extracted event information, a location of the sign, or a combination thereof.
Abstract:
One disclosed example method for coordinated lane-change negotiations between vehicles includes receiving, by a computing device of a first vehicle, a lane change request from a requesting vehicle, the requesting vehicle requesting to change to a lane of travel occupied by the first vehicle; identifying, by the computing device, a second vehicle in the lane of travel; coordinating with the second vehicle to establish a space to accommodate the requesting vehicle in the lane of travel; and transmitting a lane change response to the requesting vehicle. In some examples, methods may further include determining a distance between the first and second vehicles; determining a minimum distance to establish the space; and communicating the minimum distance and a command to change a travelling speed to the second vehicle to establish the space.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to providing location-based health alerts based on biological indicators. In some aspects, a server may receive information that identifies a location associated with a mobile device. The server may determine a venue associated with the location. The server may identify health information associated with the venue. The health information may be based on data previously received in association with the venue. The server may provide a health alert based on the health information.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems, methods and techniques for calibrating a barometric pressure sensor of a mobile device. In one embodiment, a barometric pressure sensor of a mobile device may be calibrated by determining that a location of the mobile device is on a particular discrete vertical of a plurality of discrete vertical levels.
